From the view of conservative purity, Mccain represented a moderate Republican candidate who could take the fall during tough times for the GOP. Mccain did take that fall. Now that the conservatives see Obama first hand, they aren't going to like any senator who actually treated Obama with respect. Mccain corrected that woman who said "Obama is an Arab". "I don't trust him". Mccain said he was a good family man. In GOP circles that isn't good enough among today's neo-conservatives. Lindsey Graham made a comment last summer that these radical town hall fights were not going to help the GOP. He also was critical of Rush Limbaugh. Charlie Crist actually was nice enough to meet with Obama and shake his hand and listen to what he was offering in the stimulus, and predictably the GOP had to challenge Charlie Crist as well.

I heard that Mccain had 40 percent approval in his state. I think his ultimate deception recently on turning his back on his idea of fair and cleaner elections as well as joining in with the homophobics in trying to keep "don't ask don't tell" I would like nothing more than to see him lose in the primary and give Democrats a chance to win. Homophobia is becoming more of a GOP issue and more and more people are becoming more tollerant in this respect. Mccain is the weakest minded politician I can think of. Nobody has ever changed their mind as much as him.

Right now it looks like McCain will probably win this one. However, Hayworth has plenty of time to catch him and he just might!

Hayworth will lose big to McCain. The Tea Party movement is even more overrated than the netroots. They like to claim credit for victories they had little to with. Winning candidates in VA, NJ and MA all distanced themselves from the Tea Party folks publicly.
