I moving this one to tossup. I like Jerry Brown but he has shown he is capable being defeated in a general election in CA.

Anyone know if Field polled the senate race as well?

Both Ras and Field have this race competitive. Maybe Ras isn't biased after all.... hmmm....

If the cross tabs are right FM you may have to rethink the portrayal of CA as a example of a liberal failed state:
23% Strongly conservative
12% Moderately conservative*
45% Middle-of-the-road
09% Moderately liberal*
11% Strongly liberal*
I get CA being 35% conservative and only 20% liberal.

This race shouldn't even be competitive and Jerry Brown should be wiping the floor with Whitman but the opposite is happening. Last October Brown led Whitman 49% to 21% among independents, now Whitman leads Brown 50% to 36%. If this hemmoraging of independent voters continues this will become Whitman's race to lose. Right now I'm calling it for Whitman but will change my prediction if PPP or SurveyUSA comes out with different results. Jerry Brown you need to start campaigning
Brown/Whitman
Dem (42%) 83%/16%
Rep (35%) 6%/91%
Ind (27%) 42%/56%
51% Whitman
47% Brown

Jerry Brown = Martha Coakley.

The interesting thing is that Martha Coakley and Jerry Brown are actually friends and this race does seem to have a lot of parallels to that one except for one thing, Meg Whitman is a lot smarter than Scott Brown and has a lot more money.

I still say you're crazy to want to be Gov of California (or NY for that matter). Its very well possible that the next Gov of both of those states could be the one presiding of it when it fails. California is a double-dip recession away from complete collapse given its budget balancing techniques is, like Obamacare, completely smoke and mirrors of pushing the costs down the road.
