Obama coming here would help Boxer. It seems like he is the only politician Californians like these days.

He already did. Her numbers dropped after that. Doesn't seem to fit with a 61% approval, does it? Maybe California is finally fed up with Boxer's arrogance and queen of the senate attitude.

Campbell would be a tough opponent for her. He's actually a sane Republican. But I still think she'd beat him. She wouldn't have as much trouble with the other two. Republicans are always convinced they can beat Boxer, and she always wins.

Boxer is going to win this going away,her lead is getting bigger because of one thing the Arz immigration law,the Republicans do not know what they have done,they have awakend a sleeping giant.The American public might support this law by a wide margin,but the Hispanic in the Asian cummunity dissaproves of this law by 75% to 20% which is very bad news for the Gop,Obama got 67% of the Hispanic vote in 2008,with this law alienating Hispanics in Asians,he is going to get 80% of the Hispanic vote in 2012,which means the Republican nominee have to get 65% of the white vote to win,the Republicans have dugged themselves into a very big hole Karl Rove is the only Republican who understands what dammage has been done,and its very dammaging,the Republican party has just given the Democrats the Whitehouse from here until eternity,States like Nevada in Nmex in Penn has just went from tossups to solid blue,Colorado,Florida,Arizonia,in Ohio is now lean blue,but the biggest gain is going to be Texas which was solid red,but now its going to be lean red,but in 2016 its going to be lean blue,how can the Republicans win when 95% of blacks in 80% of Hispanics in 75% of Asians now supports Democrats,Fox news is doing very bad dammage to the Gop along with the far-right radio,this Arz law might help the Gop in November,but in the long run its going to destroy the Republican party.the reason the far-right in foxnews are happy is because 65% of the country supports this law,but they dont see the dammage that has been done,but they will see it in 2012 in beyond,when Calif passed a immigration law back in 1994,it also was supported very big by the American public,but was not supported at all by the Hispanics,that law took Calif from a lean red to a solid blue and because of that law the Republicans will never win Calif again,thats why this Arz law will destroy the Republican party.

@ Gary, not sure how you can say her numbers dropped. Obama went out to California to appear with Boxer on April 19, a week after the previous Rasmussen poll. In the new poll, her numbers improved versus Fiorina and DeVore, and went down a whopping 1 percentage point against Campbell, who stayed flat (stuck at 41% for four straight surveys). All of the changes, one could argue, were statistically insignificant.
That said, I'm sure she's rather been at a higher number.

Boxer will win this, unfortunately. California never seems to learn anything from history. The state is just too liberal and will keep sending this buffoon back to Washington. I wonder if they are watching what is happening in Greece and thinking to themselves, 2 + 2 equals ??? At least NJ has a governor who is righting their ship. Christie is the man!

I sometimes am on the side of caution and pay attention to Rasmussen's polling just to get fellow progressives fired up and ready to go and get in campaign mode. I use it as a fear tactic to make sure the base turns out.

In this race, I am not taking anything for granted, since we saw what happened for the Democrats with Scott brown, and in a bad Republican year of 2008, we saw Alaska elect their first Democratic senator in years.

San Fran. LA, Hollywood, have a huge metro area, and probably more white progressives than anywhere else in the country. There are high Latino populations and African Americans.

San Diego suburbs like Escondido and areas near the Nixon library in Orange county are ruby red districts. I still think it is a reach to think Campbell would pull this off.

Maine, Mass. and Vermont can elect Republican governors or senators because they are extremely moderate, but in California, Republicans running for high office have to be far more Conservative than someone like Scott Brown. Campbell will have to appeal to more pro lifers, NRA people and anti-immigration hawks.

Greece's GDP is something probably less than that of San Diego's.

If California had a rational property tax scheme, they wouldn't be in this mess. But you have people with million dollar homes that pay a few thousand in taxes each year.

The 2/3 rule to raise taxes was just ridiculous. They want to do that in Texas now. I can't wait.

I love the people that post here and have absolutely no idea how government works. Like Barbara Boxer was responsible for California's fiscal woes. And like voting for republicans for fiscal solvency would get them in the right direction.

Yeah Aaron....it would be MUCH better to be able to raise taxes on a whim. Good thinking!

Nevermind that having to build a supermajority makes you THINK before you SPEND.

There are three current Senators from Brooklyn. All three are tough and all three are certainly hated (ok...strongly disliked) by conservative posters here.

They all have one thing in common; they're fighters, and, generally they've been winners...like the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Chuck Schumer
Barbara Boxer

Unless the Republican tide begins to rise again like it did for 9 months or so ending in April (and, currently contracting, or so it seems), Boxer will win this race...not going away, but by mid-single digits at least.

I like Tom Campbell....but for him to win this race its going to take a big time hail mary, here's why:

1. Campbell got beat pretty bad by DiFi in 2000, and even lost his home district by double digits.

2. Can Campbell raise millions and millions and millions of dollars?

3. There are 2 million more registered Dems in CA than there are Republicans.

4. Obama is still popular in CA, but then again he`s still popular in MA and that didnt help much.

5. California is really liberal in places like LA & SF, a moderate like Campbell is the GOP`s best shot.

Boxer, Schumer and Sanders are 3 of my 5 favorite US Senators. My other two are Kerry and Feingold
