The most responsive Census states are pretty interesting. Notice anything about them?

State 2000 final 2010 through Monday
Va. 73% 75%

Ky. 70% 74%

N.C. 66% 73%

Tenn. 69% 73%

S.C. 65% 72%

Fla. 69% 70%

Ala. 66% 68%

D.C. 66% 67%

Maine 65% 66%

Vt. 65% 66%

Bad news for Democrats: I really don't have to tell you. Birther country is fillin' up their Census in defiance of Ms. B(achmann).

Caveat: All but VT and Maine are heavily black states, so the growth in response MAY be coming from the black population. However, if VT and ME are there, which are two of the whitest states EVER, it's just as likely it's being driven by increases in whites.

"All but VT and Maine are heavily black states,"

KY and TN don't have near the percentage of blacks that SC, AL, NC have.

At 66%, Maine and Vermont are average at best. Texas is 67%.

Minnesota traditionally has high response rates. They also are among the top 3 every election as far as voter turnout, so it's not surprising Bachmann's district has a good response. Minnesotans have a strong sense of civic duty that I wish was shared by the rest of the country.

The last bearded presidential candidate was Charles Evans Hughes. They should bring beards back.

Why does everyone seem to be so surprised that the tea party is mostly white? Black voters are by far the most loyal demographic group as supporters of democrats than any other group. In some polls, Obama has as high as a 97% approval rating. 92% voted democrat in 2008. Democrats will continue to get 90% of their vote no matter what they do how bad of a candidate they have.

So why is it a surprise that there are few blacks in the tea party when the top democrats in this country say that the tea party is evil and filled with a bunch of violent racist radical nazi republicans?

With 97% of blacks approving of Obama you would expect to only see the tea party made up of a maximum of 3%. That's right where most polls show it. In the 3% to 5% range.
