Truthseeker:

Not sure what the value of the general election poll, since Governor Rell is not running for re-election.

Cyril Washbrook:

Problem was that she announced it a day after the survey finished, so there wasn't really anything they could do. Makes the poll a bit worthless.

There are clearly two races in CT. which will receive national attention, Senate (Dodd) and Governor.

We need a Republican primary poll for Governor. There is less than one year to go before the election and it is certainly not clear who will emerge as the Republican candidate. Rell was very popular and well known. I do not believe there is any other Republican in the state who is well known at all, including the Lieutenant Governor, Michael Fedele. Fedele will most likely be the candidate polls will list as the opponent for a Democrat, but it is not at all certain he would win the primary. Fedele was in the legislature as a House member for 10 years and then ran and lost a race for state Senate in 2002. He was selected by Rell as second on the ticket in 2006.

As to the Democrats, two major events have occurred. First, Rell saying she will not run and second Ned Lamont saying he may.

This is a new game, with not much time left for the situation to sort itself out.
