Since the campaign--pre-Iowa--began, the ABC-Washington Post Poll noted this was a "change" election. With that and other insights, it has almost never been wrong. Given how poorly most polls have performed this year, why have they done so well? (Having Dan Balz helps, but someone has to take the poll)
