Looking at those demographic breakdowns, it's very clear just how solid President Obama's support is among Democrats and Independents (around 3/4 of voters in the two parties approve of his performance when you base it on 2008 exit polls, or Pollster.com averages). Down low single digits from Gallup's January numbers (where nearly 4/5 Dem/IND voters approved of his performance).
His slight slide in overall approval numbers (from 67% to 59% currently) is due almost entirely to the slide in support among Republicans (from 41% to 23%).
Impressive.
