Imagine what Hillary Clinton's negatives would have been if she had been the nominee for president. They were very close to 50 when her nomination seemed inevitable.

Not becoming president may have been a very good thing for her public image.

Yes, but she did want to be president very badly. If the economy is still i nthe tank or inflation gets out of control, I would not be shocked at all to see her challenge Obama in the 2012 primary.

I wonder how a Clinton / Bush race woudl have tunred out in 2004.

There has been no formidable opponent to an incumbent president of the same party in the primaries in recent memory. Unless you think Lyndon LaRouche is a formidable opponent... but then you have many other problems to begin with.

What do you consider recent history? Ted Kennedy challenging Carter? Buchanan challenging Bush? Don't underestimate a clinton. She didn't run in 2004 because I don't think she felt she could beat bush....she knew 2008 was a sitting duck for her...she may be to old in 2016.....if obama is in trouble in 2012 she will challenge him.

Women are very stubborn creatures...anyone married know this.

Ted Kennedy was not in Carter's administration. The two really never liked each other.

Obama would have to be in super serious trouble for Hillary to challenge him in a primary. At this point her success is tied to his.

How would it go if she lost the primary? Can I still be Secretary of State? Unfortunately, unlike Senators running for pres, it doesn't work that way. :p

The only way Clinton becomes president in 2012 is if Obama can not or doesn't want to run for some reason. Do you really think that the country is going to be so bad in 2 years that even Obama and Pelosi can't convince the Democratic base that Obama can just needs 4 more years to fix the problems? Unless, god forbid, Swine Flu kills half the country, the economy collapses, a terroist attack happens, and the healthcare system fails, don't count on anyone challenging Obama.
