What is Iowa's unemployment rate like? 9.9 seemed like a shock today since the Gallup tracking has shown that more Americans think the economy is getting better. I know that there are a lot of people picky about what kind of job they take. It is better to be underemployed than unemployed.
I am not surprised at the Governor's race, but it would be awsome if this poll could get verified by another other than Rasmussen.

Why is 9.9 a shock? It was expected that people would re-enter the workforce after sitting out. Its very discouraging that even with the census bump, the rate is going up...underemployment is also a huge problem that is not getting enough attention. You have Network Administrators as just one example used to making 65k a year who are now doing tech support for $12 an hour.
The fundamentals driving unemployment still have not been addressed which is why the rate remains high....and I see no sign this administration intends to address any of those fundamentals.
