Mitch Daniels for Prez. Goes against the notion that some on hear have posited that all incumbents are in terrible shape.

Pence needs to stay in the House so he can be the Speaker a year from now.

I think he'd beat out Boehner if he challenged him.

Let someone else take Bayh out. Shouldn't be difficult in IN, after his lock-step votes for Harry. Even a caveman can do it.

I disagree Staty. I think the seat should become a Rep one and that Eric Cantor, or my favorite congressmen, Paul Ryan, should be majority leader if/when the Reps regain the house.

FM,

I agree that Bayh seat should be GOP. I was saying that a lesser candidate than Pence could beat Bayh. (who is Hostettler? I have no idea)

You don't think Pence would make a heck of a Speaker? From what I've seen of him, he's got all that I would look for. Well-spoken, strong, got the issues right.

My point was that it shouldn't take one of the best and brightest GOP House members to beat Bayh, so he can become a jr Senator from IN. That job could be done by a lesser guy/gal. A bit of a waste of talent.

Let's see...

GOP candidate shows interest in a race...

Rasmussen, "purely out of curiosity", decides to poll the race and SURPRISE!!! Rasmussen as the Gooper ahead, just enough to try and nudge him into the race...

They've done this, what, like 12 times already the last year.

I have no doubt that Bayh could be facing a serious challenge, but Rasmussen's motives are beyond transparent. I'd like to see some confirmation from someone else.

LordMike,

That doesn't mean that these numbers are garbage. Rasmussen was the first public pollster to show Scott Brown within 10% of Coakley in Massachusetts. Rasmussen pretty much nailed the 2008 Presidential popular vote. I have no doubt that Pence and Bayh are taking note of these numbers- because they are for real, not a bunch of trash. Democrats are in trouble everywhere. To deny this is to have your head in the sand.

StatyPolly,

To take out Evan Bayh, the GOP will need a very, very good candidate. The only one to do it would be Pence. That is it. Not any old chump is going to take Bayh down. Even as bad as things are for Democrats right now, Bayh is still an institution in Indiana and still moderately popular. If Pence passes on this race, Bayh will win reelection. If Pence runs, it will be one hell of a race.
