I am not usually one to comment on how these polls are done, but isn't 403 people a bit small for a sample size?

Why waste the air polling on Traylor? Last poll had him trailing Vitter by 70 points.

@ Dave

Probably for comparative purposes, to give Melancon a potential ceiling.

I was happy to see a slight gain for Melancon. If he closes the gap by two points per week and they can realize that re-electing a lawmaker who would have supported arresting men soliciting prostitutes, and has voted against Domestic violence programs and equal rights, that are issues that have been embraced by many Republicans. He is a hypocrite, and someone who possibly only Sarah Palin would campaign for.

I can clearly say Vitter is probably the worst current senator and has exceeded Jim Demint, Jim Bunning and Sen. Inhofe for being extreme.

The Poll did over poll conservatives, when i looked at the fine print over moderates, and Melancon has gained among Democrats. It is hard that any self respecting Democrat could actually swing for someone like Vitter. Vitter will probably get about 5 percent of the Democrat vote, and not because Melancon is going to be a great progressive champion, but simply because Vitter should not be serving in office after what he has done. If it turns out that he did provide legal assistance for the guy who beat his girlfriend, and he wins this thing, that will paint a shameful picture of Louisiana.

I don't expect any Dem on the face of the earth to win in LA, but...Vitter is really the scum of the earth as a human being. I wish Republicans would wake up to that obvious fact.

At least Dems get one freebie...Traylor's commercial can be played again and again with the lead-in "What are Republicans saying about David Vitter?" I can't see anything more effective for Melancon to use, frankly.

Forget the horse race. How on earth does Vitter have a net positive rating? What is going on in LA?

FLAP,

I guess electing a republican with all that baggage is still better than the alternative, electing a democrat.

Thank God people in New England have some sanity about politics, VT wisdom. Could you imagine if Governor Spitzer had kept his job after being caught with the call girl, and had also continued to pay his staffer salary and legal aid to defend him in court for domestic abuse, battery and false imprisonement. I think even I would consider voting for the Republican alternative in the general election. Shame on Louisiana.

They do? They elected Hillary, Dodd, Frank, Schumer, Kerry, Kennedy, and a socialist for God sakes? That is INsanity in my book. Shame on New England even though New York is not in New England for bestowing these morons on the rest of the country!

all i can say is no one thought Murkowski would lose either and she probably will. We don't know what is going to happen in this race. I don't think anyone endorses Traylor over Vitter. Vitter is one of only three 3 senators that PPP polled this year that has an favorablity rating above 50%. The other two are Barbara Mikulski and Dick Durbin (guess they were just getting approval ratings for him). I think Schumer has pretty good numbers too. Maybe they didn't poll New York.

FM that is not my point. Hold your nose and vote for him if you like his fiscal "policy" but how can you look favorably on the man? He's a worm.

Great article in the Boston Globe this morning Farleft concerning Scott Brown and how is supporting moderate Republicans and shunning the extreme tea party candidates ...for now at least. I really think Scott is positioning himself for WH run if not in '12 then '16 for sure.

If only he wasn't so wrong on so many issues.

How about that VT Gov race? 3 Dems within 800 votes. Crazy!

John1, you would send Angle,Paul, Vitter and Buck to the Senate and be proud? I'll match our New England representatives with yours anyday. I'm damn proud of them.
