Cederico:

Its hard to see O'Malley losing this race if his approvals and favorables remain in the mid 50's range. It seems many times the incumbent gets the percent of vote that matches his or her approval rating.

Ehrlich was around 54% approval when he lost in 2006 as the incumbent. People just didn't like the repubs that year. If the opposite is true, bad news for O'malley.

I'm slightly rooting for Ehrlich. On paper, these guys really are not that different at all. O'malley spends a bit more-but he's a democrat, and they usually do. Ehrlich did his fair share of spending and raising fees as governor. The big difference to me is, that O'Malley is a jerk. I'm not sure I've ever heard someone speak so mean-spiritedly of their oppenent at every opportunity. (and often just throwing something in for the heck of it.)
O'malley will probably win becaue this is is a heavily democratic state, but it's obviously close.

I think Republicans may be hurt slightly by the fact that they don't have a strong candidate for Senate. May be the difference in this race.

O'Malley's gonna pull this one out - but probably 52% to 48%
