PPP (R-l) released another atrocious poll?
This one isn't even worth analyzing.
Note to Pollster: LePage is the R in this race and Mitchell is the D.

I never even expected this. wow.

Mitchell was never closer than 8 points. This is PPP's first foray into the race. There is nothing to "wow" about here.
I'm getting tired of that. Any single point drop in Obama approval or a poll that shows a democrat not doing great... "wow." WTF? George W. Bush had the lowest approval rating of any president since Truman. Wow.
Rasmussen's 8/12/10 poll showed Obama with a 54% approval rating in Maine. Wow.
Before Baldacci, Maine had an independent governor and before him, a republican. Wow. Maine has two republican senators. Wow.
Something tells me the Maine governorship does not have national significance. Maine is not losing or gaining seats. Wow. The only significance of this race is that it will be a few more years before Maine gets gay marriage legalized if LePage is elected.

I was referring to Obama having a solid net negative approval in a new england state other than new hampshire

I think the GOP recruits a lot of these left wing candidates to be spoilers. I heard that in Arizona they were recruiting homeless people in local elections to pose as fake Green Party candidates.
I would like to see the liberal Independent do what Chiles did in FL and step down. Perhaps in Maine though, Republicans are not as conservative and more independent minded than other states, so perhaps Lepage would be an okay governor.

I am shocked at Obama's approval in Maine. These look more like Ohio numbers. It is a surprise because he won Maine in the primary overwhelmingly.

Cutler is more liberal than Mitchell, if his positions on health care and gay marriage on his website are to be believed.
Scott is a straight up moderate, concerned with more rural issues.
Moody seems like another moderate.
So the liberals in Maine are probably equal to approx. LePage's 43%. Plus there are undecideds. Wow.

This race in Maine is like Colorado in reverse. Thankfully VT has only 2 candidates a Democrat and Republican. There are the pragmatic progressives like me, who may like the ideas of a extremely progressive third party, but hate the idea of throwing away our vote.
I think Governor Douglas in VT loved it because I never campaigned for the Democratic candidate, because, it was pointless for one progressive to try to sell a candidate to other progressives. Calling Center/right folks I can handle, but calling a bunch of left wing spoilers is a waste.
Vermont always had progressive democratic candidates which was puzzling as to why the left wing third party guy, Pollina did so well. Perhaps the solution, is for the Democrats to recruit someone who is very far left, just so they can bring progressives and the center/left together. That is why on the other extreme, the Tea partiers voted out the more moderate and mainstream candidates for the more radical one, just to keep libertarian third parties out.

PPP, just another pollster with a right-wing bias
