Snowe is more liberal than Collins, but I can't see her leaving her party. Snowe isn't slimey like Arlen.

LOL at the approval rating for the president.
I swear, PPP's results are almost as hilarious as Rasmussen's. Almost.

Obama's poll numbers suck even in Maine.

"I swear, PPP's results are almost as hilarious as Rasmussen's. Almost."
Why do you say this?

Obama's approval rating is higher than Snowe's His disapproval rating is higher as well. Ask why this sample has Snowe at such an absurdly low level first before thinking about Obama.
Also this is one of the few places that is evenly split on Dems/Obama's HCR bill (however that's perceived)

Snowe won't switch because she doesn't have to. Just look at her ratings. She has no viable threat from the far right, unlike Arlen. I'm not saying I think what he did was right, but it came down to survival for Arlen, and most moderate republicans in his situation probably would have done the same.

I congratulate Olympia Snowe on her efforts so far for giving thought to voting for the public option. I am tired though of hearing these conservative democrats from states like Louisiana and ND being so resistant to the number one crisis of America's pathetic health care system. It is so sad that Democrats like Landreu, Nelson in Nebraska are trying to be more considerate of the Republican base in their home states, than supporting the most compelling crisis in America today. If Democrats get 53 votes with the public option, we should let it go to a fillibuster. It will give progressives political ammo to use against the GOP. I think it would be a great thing for progressives to let it go to a fillibuster. If 1 in 5 Americans say they are Republicans and "just say no" will fail on the health care issue.
As for Joe Lieberman, Democrats should force him out of their party next year but he may have a hard time fitting in with the GOP on his past support for abortion clinics and gay rights. Lieberman is still liberal on those issues, but fiscally, I don't see where is is doing anything.

Rasmussen had Specter behind Toomey but Sestak ahead of him. This should be a moment where loyal Democrats vote for the leader who has truly been fighting for workers and the underclasses. Specter as a Democratic candidate in the general election will be a disaster. Obama should not have endorsed anyone for this race and let the PA democrats nominate the guy who represents them, not the guy who joined their party because he was no longer conservative enough for the party. Tough luck Arlen.

I think it is hilarious that people think Snowe should switch parties as if Health Care should be one of those issues for people to fundamentally want to change parties. Cause you all know that commies vote yes on healthcare reform.

Snowe and Lieberman should just switch sides.

@Farleftandproud
Plz don't believe Rasmussen polls. They're trying to fool the unsuspecting people and creating a certain kind of talking points.

PPP has put out some strange polls lately. There are a couple reasons this poll doesn't make sense.
1) race: it shows the white vote splitting 50-41 for Obama, while among "other" it's 37-49. Whites were 96% of the electorate in Maine. The 4% that are left would have to be almost universally against him to bring him below 50. Also, that minorities would have such low approval numbers of Obama is ridiculous.
2) age: the poll shows Obama's approval among ages 18-29 split at 43-42, ages 30-45 losing 41-49; while WINNING ages 45-64 by a rate of 55-38 and seniors at 48-41. That is absolutely ridiculous. In the election Obama lost seniors in Maine 45-53 and won young people by 67-30.
