Must be an outlier since I have been told on this site that the GOP is dead.

The GOP is not dead in the state, Stillow. They are more Republican congress people in Michigan than Democrats. John Engler, a Republican, ran the state for 12 years before Jennifer Granholm took over. But, the GOP keep losing the state in the presidential race.

Xenobion:

Inconclusive is what I'd say. Cherry's low approval and disapproval shows that noone even knows the people that are running in the race. Cox is sort of the same with about 25% undecided about him.

I cannot keep up. One day you guys say the GOP is dead, then they are not, then they are again....your like Obama trying to figure out what to do with the war.....ya cannot make up your minds.

You have to learn each person on here is an individual. I know Platanoman's opinions are different from mine as your's are from mine. Blanketing anyone who disagrees with you as a liberal will keep you confused and unable to track conversations. One random person saying the GOP is dead 5 days ago and another random person saying the opposite is your issue. Its not that hard to understand.

rhetorical X...keep up! Couldbe the turkey sandwiches too...

I really believe that is your issue. Rhetorical question or not :)

Voters tend to vote for candidates they think are the best for gubernatorial races. However, vote for their party for senate races. That's why we have democratic governors in deep red state and also do have republican governors in deep blue states. You have never made any sense to me ever.

Idaho - thats because you have the intelectual capacity of a peanut.....go away.

@Stillow & @Idaho,

You both need to check the comments policy. If anyone wants to explain to me how that last exchange was "intelligent and civil," I'm all ears.

Stillow I want to make it clear what is going on Michigan. Cox is probably going to win because he is a better candidate and Cherry is a horrible candidate with no electoral experience. It has nothing to do with Obama or GOP wave coming or anything else. The same thing happened with the 2009 gubernatorial races. If your expecting the GOP to do well around the country in the midterms next fall you are going to be very disapointed. You get a good number of state governors to flip parties and Harry Reid's seat but that is it.

Sorry for going the low road. Sometimes I cringe when I read certain post devoid of complete analysis. However, I will certainly try hard to stay focus on the comment policy. Thanks!

You could publish a 50 page book with all the liberals on this site who have posted the GOP is dead. Everytime the GOP polls higher or wins an election lately its because the Dem candidate is weak and not becaus eof the GOP...its absurd. My initial comment was said in humor above because libs keep posting the GOP is dead, yes even Idaho.....then all of a sudden another republican is leading in a blue state.

Hmmmmm.....interesting isn't it? Then libs like idaho chime in and cannot follow it for some reason.

Here's the problem. When regular commenters decide to hit the "low road" or pop-off with "harmless" name calling and abuse, it sets a tone that inevitably descends to something truly ugly. And then when we step in, all we hear is the same thing I get from my five-year old: "he STARTED it...you let HIM do it, why are you punishing ME? It's NOT FAIR!!!"

You who post here regularly need to help us set a tone. If you can find a way to disagree vehemently while keeping it civil, without descending into personal abuse and name calling, you'll make this a better blog.
