I live in Michigan, and although I haven't been paying too much attention to the guv's race, I'm pretty familiar with the top 2 GOP contenders, and I've heard of the others. I barely recognize the Dems -- I almost forgot that they were having a primary!

My guess is that the GOP has a substantial lead in name recognition, which is usually a good start.
