Field Marshal:

Reps need some new blood within their state political party. Coleman, while he gives them the best shot to win, is not a good long-term solution IMO. Of course, my knowledge of Minn politicians is limited.

Poor Coleman, would love to see the meetings between him as governor and Franken.

Boomshak Don't Step to This:

Rybak is going to be tough to beat. Save Coleman, who has name recognition but can only win in situations where his opponent tragically dies, there is really no one on the Repub. side who has the statewide name recognition to mount a serious campaign.

This state is a lost cause. The only state to vote against Reagan and the only state stupid enough to elect Al Franken.......We shoudl let Canada annex them.

Field Marshal:

LOL Stillow. Is Canada still a separate country or are they just a pseudo- fifty-first state right now?

Careful, Stillow - we may be passive-aggressive up there, but our proximity to Canada means we know how to pull off a pretty mean cross-check. On a better note, MN can take the Pepsi challenge with just about any other state for the highest quality of life stats and probably come out victorious - which might just well be due to the fact that we were the only state smart enough to vote against Reagan.

Then why did you guys lose your pride and joy Northstars to some redneck rich state like Texas? Go Dallas Stars!

Boomshak Don't Step to This:

We'll always have the MN-orchestrated miracle on ice, which, by the way, was the thing that really killed Communism. We also have, and I see you neglected to respond to this, the very high quality of life indicators. Not to mention one of the highest percentage of voters. And the Twins, gotta love the Twins. And Spam, which, for some reason, Hawaiians like more than anyone else.

Boomshak is right Stillow. Here in Minnesota, we consistently rank in the top two in health, number one in SAT/ACT, top 3 in education, highest reporting of individual happiness, and Minnesota is a donor state. We receive 75 cents per dollar we spend. So we also don't "waste" money in government as conservatives love to say that liberals do. Since Pawlenty took over Minnesota's numbers have actually gone down, but still remain number 1 of close to it. At least Republican governor Arne Carlson (90-98) knew taxes had to be raised SOMETIMES. He also knew you have to distribute that money to education, instead of cut it. Ventura also knew things needed to be paid for to run a state. These conservatives don't realize that taxes are needed to build infrastructure and to fund education.

By the way, Minnesota has a public option in health care, and it works wonderfully. No rationing, no takeover of the entire industry (check United Health's profits). It is only limited to the very poor, but nobody complains about it, not even conservatives (but neither does the conservative party in England complain about their health system).

One last note, Minnesota is the biggest iron ore producer in the country. It was the top in the world, and maybe it still is. So, before you ship us off to Canada realize our resources enabled all of our wars to be fought. How's that for a hip check?

I got that one for you Stillow. We lost the North Stars because the former owner sexually assaulted women. He was a huge scumbag. Minnesota didn't want to support someone like him. I believe the owner was Green. So we told him to take a hike.

Stillow:

Yes, but you allowed Texas to steal your hockey team....the Wild are no northstars. Modana and the boys abiled on the state. Being a huge hockey fan that was hard to see.

We agree, the miracle on ice killed the communists. Best sports moment in history. Brooks got it done.

Gopherguy:

Yeah, the Wild are lame. North Stars were much better.

Gopherguy:

But the question still remains. How does those liberals in the northern most state (lower 48) run their state so well? How has liberalism benefited that state so well?

@ Stillow, Fieldmarshall, Bigmike

Gopherguy did not pose a rhetorical question. Anyone? Anyone?

They have no response because they've been put in a box.
