The reason we don't like you is because your a hedonist(actually Allen Keys claim about homosexuals in the 2004 IL Senate election). Allen Keys is against equal rights(his daughter is a hedonist so she shouldn't have equal rights), Allen Keys is against separation of church and state and most of all Allen Keys doesn't believe that all men were created equally(Since Gay men should have rights the rest of us enjoy).

Problem is that most of these states have less than 10 electoral votes esach with AK, ID and WY having 3, UT with 4 and NE with 5 for a grand total of 18 from these 5 states. If Obama wins PA, and the polls are looking quite good at this point, thats 21 electoral votes, 3 more than 5 of your states combined.

Presidential elections are won by the number of electoral votes, not the number of states you win.

McCain lacks the character and temperament to be president. And Palin is simply a disgrace.

You sure know that Christopher Hitchens is a Conservative/rigth-wing journalist. I think he came to the same conclusion of George Will, Charles Krauthammer, David Brooks, Kathleen Parker, Wick Allison, and any other good patriotic Republican: McCain doesn't have the intelligence and temperment to being POTUS and Palin is a joke :-)!!!

It wasn't just her homosexuality, but her general attitude...yes she may have engaged in homosexual acts but was completely unrepentant, and refuses to seek therapy for her illness...contrast that to Palin's daughter, who also has sinned (not as shameful as homosexual sex), but at least she is getting married and the child will not be born out of wedlock.

That's why Alan Keyes was quite right to cut off his daughter, because she would not compromise one bit!

Among Keyes more memorable statements was the one that he had thrown his Lesbian daughter out of the house because of her sexual orientation.
MCCain is Karl Marx next to Keyes. And after this election both McCain and Keyes will have been repudiated by the people of Illinois and hopfully the nation.

Don't confuse the conservatives with facts. Reagan if you'll recall loved to have the Christian Dominionists vote for him, but everytime they came to march in Washington he wouldn't be seen in public with them, he'd sneak around and call them on the phone to tell them what a good job they did.

Bush 41 was the same way only less cordial and look where that got him. The only one that thinks that the Christian Crazies are on to something is Bush and that is probably because they have a similarly low IQ.

Republicans don't care for the religious folk, they simply claim to believe that they do.

No Attacks on US soil since 9/11?

Well... there's the anthrax, there's the guy in Tennessee who walked into a unitarian church and started shooting people with a shotgun, there was a spate of church burnings across the south 2 years ago, there's the unidentified tear-gas sprayed into a mosque a mosque a couple weeks ago, and lot's of other examples. But if you believe that right-wing terrorists are not in fact terrorists, then yes, there have been no new attacks on US soil since 9/11.

I agree with you that is not smart to put all the eggs in one' pollsters basket. However, SurveyUsa is not the only pollster showing the same trend.

Let me show you,

NOW:
SurveyUSA 10/11 - 10/12 546 LV 51 43 Obama +8

THEN:
SurveyUSA 09/23 - 09/24 705 LV 46 48 McCain +2

NOW:
FOX News/Rasmussen 10/05 - 10/05 1000 LV 50 47 Obama +3

THEN:
Rasmussen 09/11 - 09/11 700 LV 46 51 McCain +5

Obviously, that things have moved, have moved enough to bank on Obama carrying MO in Nov? No, for sure. If you see McCain going to MO, it is because his internals are showing something. Remember all the polls showing Obama competitive in NC, VA, IN? Well, McCain campaigned in VA this weekend, today he is in NC, and Palin is going to IN.

I have yet to see these studies, but it doesn't matter, because the more important question is why should science be valued over the bible and never be second guessed?

Lots of so-called scientists believe in the big bang theory too but that doesn't mean it happened that way. The world was just as likely created in six days.

I estimate it happened when I was about 12 years old...I developed quite a crush on my female biology teacher...I asked her if she felt the same way, and she stated that she didn't, and this is one of the reasons why I have always been distrustful of evolution.

Rasmussen will be releasing a new Missouri poll tonight along with several other battleground states. Will be interesting to see if Rasmussen confirm an Obama lead in Missouri.

Tonight, at 6:00 p.m. Eastern, the latest polling data from Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia will be released. All five states were carried by Republicans four years ago but have become battleground states this year.

Has anyone noticed just how over this election is?

The national polls will lead the state polls, and they are showing no signs of going towards McCain with 3 weeks left.

There is one more debate, and McCain won't win. You don't win debates by being negative, and Obama is much better at being positive than McCain is.

McCain exhausted the utility of negative campaigning last month when he started making claims about Obama teaching sex ed to kindergartners. That was the jump the shark moment for McCain, and the media started to pile on, rightfully so, and they're not going to let it go at this stage. This means that when McCain tries to link Obama to "terrorists" (Ayres) or "radicals" (Wright) or "corruption" (Rezko), it will actually create more of a backlash as it will seem desperate and shallow.

Attack politics for McCain are now a losing strategy, and there is nothing positive that McCain can do to make up the difference with 3 weeks to go.

The only thing that might change the election now towards McCain's favor would be capturing bin Laden, another terrorist attack on our country, or something really bad about Obama that no one ever expected (mistress, drug use as a politician with video/audio, or caught in actual corruption). I'm not sure that either of the former would have enough of an effect to change the outcome, and I'm pretty sure that if there was real dirt on Obama, it would have come out by now.

@Brambster

I agree with you except for a couple of points.

1. Another terrorist attack on American soil kills McCain, not helps him. What is the line of reasoning there? Uh we let 2 foreign terror attacks on this country and we've only been in charge 8 years. The argument just doesn't hold water unless you believe in the "Fascist Military Take-over" scenarios that some have put forth.

2. Karl Rove is still on the loose and you just never know how desperate he might be to keep the Democrats out of the White House. The thought of Congress enforcing that subpoena and turning him into someone's shower buddy probably leaves him cold. So If I were Obama I'm make extra sure that no "dead hooker with a kilo of cocaine" mysteriously made her way into the trunk of his hatchback. Might even post a Secret Service detail there.

In this election there are no real "battleground states" as FL in 2000 or OH in 2004. In my opinion in a election there can be only one or two battleground states but not 8 or 10. 10 battleground states makes no sense. The battleground in this election was the economic crisis and McCain failed to handle it properly.

You give me WAY too much credit, friend. I only WISH I had that kind of time. As I said, there are a couple of tell-tale signs that alankeys was in fact our buddy boom.

If I had an alter ego in here, it would be something along the lines:

a) my_friends
b) fun_dumb_mentals_of_our_economy
etc.

Btw, my wife is talking with Al Franken RIGHT now while waiting in line for Michele Obama tonight in St. Paul, and I, a latter day Atlas, have to hold up the crumbling stucco of our socialist economy! Where, I ask, is the fairness?

Btw, to answer your prev. question, - both. I was a researcher at the U while working on my doctorate @MIT - my tenured advisor left MIT to head the dept @ the U. It's a sad, age old story: a boy meets a girl, they move to Tucson and it's dry heat. (gawd, I LOVE that comment by Oldy!!!!)

I don't claim that a terrorist attack would definitely benefit McCain...but it is possible that it could. Never underestimate the power of nationalism, and nationalism in a militaristic sense favors McCain. Even GWB reached over 80% approval based on being attacked on his watch.

Regarding dead hookers and cocaine ending up in Obama's trunk, they'll need photos, video or audio with Obama of such a thing for it to stick at this stage. This is far beyond even nixonesque dirty tricks, and we're far past the point where plain old dirty tricks will be effective.

I'm far more concerned about Obama's well being than I am about his chances of losing at this point. The one good thing in Obama's favor here is that any attempt on Obama's life would bury McCain in the polls against Obama's successor, so an attempt by one of his supporters would be detrimental to their own cause. Do I expect this to happen; certainly not, but I would be extra, extra careful for the next 3 weeks considering the rhetoric of the McCain campaign labeling Obama a terrorist by association.

SUSA and right-leaning Rasmussen have both released polls of MO today. SUSA, with a small sample (under 600), shows MO trending toward Obama (+8). Right-leaning Rasmussen, with a healthier sample size (1,000), shows a steadier race in MO, with Obama ahead there by 3 points for the 2nd consecutive week. Looking at the internals, it appears that SUSA has too many Democrats in its sample. Rasmussen's internals show little room for movement in MO, as both Obama and McCain have solidified their base in the state, and independents are split evenly.

Obama has led MO in 4 of the last 5 polls. The most recent visit to the state by either campaign was made by Biden last week. Neither campaign has announced any future visits.

McCain will most likely need a game-changer to overtake Obama there--perhaps a winning debate performance on Wednesday night. If the contest in MO remains close, GOTV efforts may prove decisive. Obama has over 40 field offices in MO; McCain has 16.

What say you about this?

“That which is hateful to you, do not unto another: This is the whole Torah. The rest is commentary — [and now] go study.”
Rabbi Hillel in the first century BCE

Since the entirety of the anti-gay rhetoric of the neo-Fascist right comes from an incorrect reading of the Torah (NOT from the New Testament), who better than a respected and scholarly Rabbi to teach us what actually is in the Torah?
