Breath into a paper bag for 10 minutes and you will be fine...then put a plastic dry cleaning bag over your head for 10 minutes and WE will be fine :)

TITLE IS WRONG!!!!!
Posted on October 9, 2008 11:23 PM
wrong number in title..it should be obama 48, mccain 45
Posted on October 9, 2008 11:24 PM
Please. This article surfaced after the Dem Convention. The title tries to make it sound worse than it is. He asked them to wait until the administration switch so that he could get more favorable, safer, quicker withdrawal terms than Bush would agree to.
That's all. Plus that's total old news.
Do the conservatives know they're running a base-only campaign right now (character attacks, social issues) and that indies are completely flocking to Obama (backed by polling) because of that???
How can you justify attacking character when folks getting ready to retire have lost almost 3 trillion in retirement assets? Do you see how insane and out of touch that seems to people who don't wear partisan blinders?
Both of these guys have been affiliated with or interfaced with slime. That's the name of the game in politics. Get over it!
It really is the Economy, Stupid!
Posted on October 9, 2008 11:26 PM
It still is Mccain: "Get off my lawn!!!!!!!!!"
Such a nice guy: "My Friends, GET OFF MY LAWN!!"
Posted on October 9, 2008 11:27 PM
This poll (from a Republican pollster) is the 2nd today showing Obama ahead in NC. Right-leaning Rasmussen shows a smaller Obama lead, in part because he did not include the name of southerner and former Republican Bob Barr. (Unlike Barr, Ralph Nader is not on the ballot in NC.)
Posted on October 9, 2008 11:27 PM
Eric D:
You have the headline wrong - Obama's leading 48-43. In North FREAKIN' Carolina! By a Republican pollster! [Sorry, couldn't help myself :-)]
@Hoosier:
I think Civitas is a respected Republican pollster, PPP mentions them on occasion:

GOP is behind in the polls and are huffing and puffing with these crazy stories that nobody care about. McCain has spent the last week talking about Ayers....Nobody cares. It's the economy stupid......
Posted on October 9, 2008 11:44 PM
Civitas and PPP have consistently echoed each other in their NC polling. They also have this in common: they're both NC pollsters with a record of polling the state accurately. The difference is that PPP is a Dem pollster and Civitas is Rep. Both give very detailed internals, and both pay a lot of attention to geographic breakdowns in the state. So... in short, I would pay attention to this. I still think that NC numbers will go higher based on turnout, but these are *very good* results for Obama.
Purdue's results surprise me a bit; in the end I would not be surprised to see McCrory take the win. NC has a long tradition of ticket-splitting, although Carter and Hunt both got elected on the same ticket, but there was no Senate race that year. I don't know if a trifecta can happen, but I'll hold out for the possibility.

You ignorant Republicans cheated in 2000 and won by a 5 to 4 vote in Daddy Bushes' Supreme Court, you got the 2004 election for free, but this time THE DEMOCRATS ARE GOING TO WIN!
VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA AND LETS GET A DEMOCRAT WIN IN NOVEMBER!

"death threats are illegal. that is highly offensive and scary."
Which is exactly why something should be done about the idiots at McCain/Palin rallies shouting things like "kill him" and "off with his head" about Obama. What a bunch of losers and nut cases! If the GOP standard draggers had any morals, they would do something about it.
Posted on October 9, 2008 11:56 PM
this is how they've polled the state all year:
February – McCain 46, Obama 36
April – McCain 48, Obama 39
May – McCain 44, Obama 39
June – McCain 45, Obama 41, Barr 2
July – McCain 43, Obama 40, Barr 2
August – McCain 46, Obama 40, Barr 2
September – McCain 45, Obama 45, Barr 2
October - Obama 48, McCain 43
This is as accurate a view as I've seen all year in this state, and if this holds, the landslide will materialize
Posted on October 10, 2008 12:02 AM
McCain just stnads there and smiles like when they called Hillary a bitch at his meeting. He's scary

@ marctx:
SENATOR Barack Obama confered with the Gov't of Iraq that it's agreement with President Bush on troop deployments should not be finalized until it received congressional approval.
He's a member of Congress, speaking on behalf of Congress, for the right of Congress... The President can argue against that if they'd like...
What he DIDN"T SAY is this, what you're hearing:
"Wait until I'm President"
He didn't say that, no one is saying he said that... stop lying...
Posted on October 10, 2008 12:17 AM
what the mccain campaign is doing whether intentional or not is sowing hatred. not in a racial way mind you but a hatred nonetheless. i say this because it is not mccain questioning baracks policies that incites the crowd. it is his rhetoric about obamas association with ayres that get them riled up. they become an angry crowd who believes that barack is a terrorist without any evidence of such a thing. it is sad that mccain doesnt say when they do that barack is not a terrorist.he doesnt so it make me wonder. i have no problem with asking americans to look at a mans judgement but to allow this terrorist accusation to fly is absurd and dishonest. it makes me question john mccain honor, integrity, and his judgement.

Poor taste but not a threat. Might be a legal issue /if/ you follow the suggestion. How badly do yo want to make a point?

We luv you man. We want you to see OBAMA sworn in as PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES in January 2009 with your own eyes!
We want you to get a dose of that socialized medicine them congress folks have been getting all these years...we want you to quit worrying about the election, man. Some you win, some you lose. This time, you look like losing..sorry you didn't make it in Hollywood but then you don't exactly have the politics for the West Coast, do you?

are you a defense attorney?
"then put a plastic dry cleaning bag over your head"
this doesn't imply "who" would put the bag on my head?
It could easily suggest this person plans to sufficate me.

Subject is understood "you." That's covered in 5th grade grammar and will be held up in any court.
You're acting like an idiot and a coward.
Posted on October 10, 2008 1:03 AM
just noticed something extraordinary about this poll... it was conducted entirely before the 2nd debate
Posted on October 10, 2008 1:04 AM
@marctx
Unless you have multiple personalities, the imperative "you" (implied in a command) could only be the owner of "your head." I'm not making excuses for laguna_b, but you don't have a legal case here.
Unless, as Mike Kent writes, you can prove posthumously that laguna_b's suggestion drove you to self-murder. You would have to come back from the dead or leave a note.
You would also look very silly.

Obama ups his lead to 4.2 on Zogby. This is a 0.6 point increase from yesterday. More importantly, the last two days he has been polling near 50% while McCain is in the low 40s. Zogby still seems to sample an equal number of Democrats and Republicans - it's amazing Obama is still up. The negative attacks are backfiring on McShame.
http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1580
"The rolling survey was conducted in part after the McCain campaign launched attacks against Obama for his associations with a former pastor and a one-time leader of a radical group in the 1960s, but McCain, not Obama, is the one who has lost ground in the last two days since this new McCain campaign strategy was ratcheted up. This may be a reaction by likely voters to negative campaign tactics, which have not worked this year."

This Site is getting personal. Please let's hit the restart button. Please tell me someone- why should I Vote for McCain? I am 54 years old and my business is real estate related. The person I most admire in my life (aside from my dad) is an Egyptian professor who came to this country in 1967. He and his wife came here because they thought it was was a safe refuge for them and their children. They have since become American citizens. I dare not disclose their names because those names sound like those of so-called terrorists. The GOP is a disgrace to the ideals of our founders. If a person's name offends you - you are not a true American - You are a bigot.
Posted on October 10, 2008 1:31 AM
What he said MarxTc was- "Breath into a paper bag for 10 minutes and you will be fine...then put a plastic dry cleaning bag over your head for 10 minutes and WE will be fine :)"
Pretty clear it was a request of YOU...not a statement about anyone else being involved. Of course, I suppose you could argue that he hurt your "widdle feelings" and you have some predisposition to actually undertake such self-inflicted acts when your feelings are hurt.
So it could be an interesting case of negligence. Especially if you could make the case it was clear from your postings that you were schizophrenic.

Good Morning
Today we will see further meltdown on the world's capital markets. Tokyo was off another 11% overnoght and they aren't even involved in sub-prime.
ESSENTIALLY WHAT HAS HAPPENED IS THAT ALL THE INVESTMENT BANKS HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH MONEY THEY HAVEN'T GOT.
THE SUB-PRIME IS JUST PART OF THE PROBLEM.
There is about $400 FOUR HUNDRED BILLON of Lehman Bros debt needing to be settled today which won't be. So the unpaid debt is going to end up somehere and possibly bring those banks down.
So far all the banks in ICELAND have gone bust because no other banks will lend them money. The Russians have come to Iceland's aid with about $5 billion.
Going to be a crazy day
Posted on October 10, 2008 4:42 AM
Apparently $400 billion are "swaps" and the estimated value of all the ones in circulation for settlement today where Lehman brothers have got their name somewhere in the chain as these swaps have been sold on multiple times and nobody knows where the chain eventually ends for settlement.
The Governments are standing behind everything but there is just irrational fear now driving the markets. Though Paulson's number of $700 billion is looking small, as the British Government have put up about $800 billion just for the British Banks.
Posted on October 10, 2008 5:31 AM
Thank God Putin in rearing his head in Iceland.

No it couldn't, you illiterate moron.
Now please, go away and let the adults talk. I'm sure there's a website full of losers that would love to hear you babble on.

Treason Marc? The Washington Times????? What a great source.
You mean Obama supposedly did what Reagan did in convincing the Iranians to release the hostages as he was inaugurated, the beginning of the Iran/contra scandal? You Republicans are so desperate it is laughable. Get over it. If the country survived 8 years of Bush (barely) you right wingers can survive an Obama Presidency. It will actually be good for you.
Posted on October 10, 2008 7:29 AM
Woohoo Purdue is ahead of McCrory. It will be a close race...I hope she can pull it off.
Posted on October 10, 2008 7:52 AM
@Basil
marctx is a troll and as such has no age, gender, life or any other human attributes. even if it flames about a death threat, closer examination will prove the utter idiocy of such a statement: death threats cannot be issued against objects and cartoon characters. it is reminiscent of the old joke: when you choke a smurf, what color does it turn?
so, what's marctx to do? hire an imaginary lawyer, of course. www.imaginarylawyer.com.
otherwise, i think carl29 can help you. oh, i forgot, you pissed her off too. lmao.
marctx, i think OBAMA is behind all this. don't you see how laguna_b is but a tool of the leftist media elite run amuck? you know what, i'd skip that imaginary lawyer thing, and go straight to Faux News with that. Did I say go? I meant run. RUN.
Carry on

You guys make me laugh. A lot.

I didn't take Laguna's comment as a death threat, more of a a death suggestion. It appears he was only offering good solid adivce.
Posted on October 10, 2008 9:07 AM
I just saw that Obama has bought a full prime time hour on all major networks for October 28. I'm sure as usual, he will use that time to talk about his plans, not making crazy accusations his opponents. Thats why Obama is ahead.
I am and independent voter in NC. There is now way I would vote for McSame and Caribou Barbie.
Maybe youth and skill can beat age and treachery.
Posted on October 10, 2008 9:14 AM
marctx.. call it an intervention. You seem a little wound up.. like ready to go postal or something. Take a deep breath and relax. If you're that suggestible, we promise not to mention ideas like putting a plastic bag over your head. I learned in 1st grade that's potentially dangerous. Just use a paper bag.. (a small one, not one that fits over your head.) And breathe into it. Nice, deep breaths. There. And don't look at today's polls. Or you'll start hyperventilating again.
Posted on October 10, 2008 9:50 AM
Can we please stop with the crap about "He's trying to kill me over the internet!!!!!"
I'm sure they're mixing up a big batch of red Kool-Aid at GOP HQs all across the country by now. Bush drove their party to the edga and McSlime/Palin pushed it over the edge with their racist rants and hate rallies.
