Ayotte is well liked by those who know her, and has gotten good press in MH, generally for her battles on parental notification for abortions and oversight on death penalty cases. She's definitely seen as a strong "law and order" candidate in the Guiliani mode. But few know where she stands on, say, Afghanistan or HCR.

At the moment her popularity translates into a statistically significant lead (at this very early date) over the somewhat better known Hodes. Time will tell as her campaign skills are tested and she's forced to take positions on the issues. I think she has an advantage if Greg actively works for her. He's extremely popular in NH. Looks like Hodes beats anyone else, at least at this early stage.
