These results aren't very surprising, since Romney campaigned a lot in NH. Huckabee focused almost exclusively on Iowa and Palin wasn't even on the map back in 2007. If Huckabee and Palin make a run for the GOP nomination and hit NH, I would expect much thighter results.

I don't think Huckabee will run this year, I think he will play for VP....the GOP typically gives the nomination to the next guy in line which is Romney. I don't see that changing unless Palin does jump in. She throws the whole thing out of whack.

Being a Romney supporter I hope she does not jump in the race in 2012, because I don't think Romney could beat her, it would look like the Bush/McCain primary back in 2000.

Romney/Huckabee 2012. Romney would need someone like Huck on the ticket to make the religiosu right happy since they are not to fond of mormons.

I think Romney is the only person the GOP can put forth that would have any kind of chance against Obama in 2012. They need to stay far away from Palin. A much more grown up, mature ticket would be Romney/Petraeus (if Gen. Petraeus is political and a Republican). The Republicans will get the religious right vote against Obama/Biden in 2012 with or without a religious right figure on the ticket.

Don't assume Biden will be on the ticket in 2012. Obama does not like him very much and he has a habit of embarrassing the administration on a regular basis.

Stillow, do you have an (unbiased) source for those claims?

Anyway, I agree that Romney is the front runner, but a lot can change in 4 years, just ask Hillary Clinton. Add in the fact that the general population seems to have a poor opinion of Mitt (both Huckabee and McCain polled far better against Clinton/Obama) and I do think someone like Pawlenty or Thune has a shot.

Ape, it is not really a secret that Biden is a walking gaffe machine and that Obama doesn't care to much for him. Its an unspoken truth outside the liberal left....
