Menendez is one of the best. This poll is messed up. Perhaps Kean could win in an open seat, since Frank Lautenberg is ailing. The GOP has benefited from death with ted Kennedy; they will probably pick up Murtha's old seat out in that conservative district in PA, and they could cash in again. They are great at that.

This election isnt until 2012. Why the heck are they polling this now? There isn't enough races this November?

Kean is an icon in NJ. If he goes for this seat, i bet he wins it.

Farleftandproud:

Kean lost in 06, and it is ridiculous to be thinking about 2012 when 2006 hasn't happened. Conservatives in Blue states tend to do best on off year elections.

I find Orange County in southern California and the affluent New York city suburbs in northern NJ like Morristown, Parsippany and Englewood are two areas that are very much conservative for fiscal reasons. NJ's wall street crowd and pharmaceuticals tend to have a lot of influence.

Can we get some 2024 polling on Vermont Governor too please?

LOL.

And its a bad thing that a party is prepared to seize an opportunity when it presents itself? At least no conservative made a movie suggesting that Teddy be assassinated.

Parties pick up seats all of the time when the seat is open, for whatever reason. Death, illness, old age, scandal. Or, with lots of dems this year, handwriting on the wall. Kinda like looking in your rear view mirror and seeing nothing but large block letters saying MACK. You just know the end is coming.

Do you have to explain truck jokes to libs?

@Field Marshal: an "icon" for whom 61% of respondents didn't have an opinion.

But yes, you have to wonder what on earth they were thinking when they decided to poll this one.

NJ 2012, LOL. zzzzzzzzzz

2012 in NJ won't be good for Repubs, unless the Obama presidency is in tatters, which is certainly possible.

Finally, people are waking up to the real culprit.

New Jersey voters favor spending cuts over tax hikes and think benefits for state workers should be reduced in order to close the state's deficit, according to a poll released on Wednesday.

Christie has estimated that a 49-year-old state worker who retires would pay in $124,000 for pension and health benefits during his career and collect $3.3 million in pension payments and $500,000 for health care during retirement, according to a February 18 CNBC interview.
