I read that McCain has all but written off NM. He hasn't been there in awhile. For good reason. This and Iowa are almost guaranteed pickups for Obama.

Mike - correct. The race is exactly as it was the day Obama won the nomination. CO, VA, OH. Win won and he wins. The rest will default to their allotted colors.

FL, IN, MT, WV and probably NV are red.
MI, PA, NH, will be blue.

I know there is a poll showing Fl even and BO ahead in IN, and JM leading in NH. I assure you, chasing after these polls hoping they are an indicator of change is like trying to catch smoke in the air.

NM should be dark blue by now. If IN is switched to toss-up already, then surely Florida should be switched as well.

1magine is quite right with his comment. I'd claim NH is not beyond McCain's reach but New Mexico and Iowa definately are. If Obama can defend all the Kerry states including PA and MI he's very very close to winning.

I wouldn't say Florida is out of reach for Obama. Recent polls have showed a dead heat. Palin quoting an anti-Semite in her convention speech couldn't have helped.

As for this poll, good news for Obama obviously.

It seems NM and IA are off the table...now Obama needs ANY of the following: CO, NV, FL, OH, VA (NC, IN??).

Obama still needs to secure PA, MI, and NH...though MI looks good, PA still leans. So all looks good for Obama at the moment.
