Even though I'm a democrat, I am actually hoping Harry Reid is unseated this November. Since he has been majority leader, he has been running the democrats into the ground and getting NOTHING done. I hope the DSCC doesn't spend a penny in Nevada to protect Harry Reid and then we get can Schumer to replace him. Harry Reid=INCOMPETENCE

Well if you really want Reid to lose just have Obama go and campaign for him.....that seems to be the best way lately to make sure the democrat loses.

As far as I'm concerned, any democrat who votes against Harry Reid is a hero!

Basically, Reid is pegged at 40%. That is extreme danger territory for an incumbent. The only reason I don't think he's "toast" quite yet is his huge cash advantage. If he didn't have that, he'd already be done. For now, he's just in serious, serious trouble.

The way things are trending, the next majority leader could be McConnell.

Schumer-LOWLIFE

I can't wait to hear horrible Harry's excuses for not getting anything done now. Oh no, we don't have 60 votes. Well you never got anything done when you did have 60 votes. When Bill Frist was majority leader, he made sure that George W. Bush got any bill he wanted past and most of them did not have 60 votes. I find it interesting that the only way Harry Reid thinks he can win is to literally vaporize his opponent. That goes to show that Harry Reid knows he has done nothing.

Run Goodman run! Obama should not make any more comments about gambling in Vegas. He did well in that state, and it could cost him big in 2012.

Reid has lousy leadership qualities. I would give him an F for his methods of trying to get health care passed and a lot of hot air and no action. I think if Schumer were majority leader or Kerry, reconciliation would have been a better idea than getting a lame bill to pass with 60 votes. Reid assumed the House would simply sign off on a weak bill, watered down by Republicrats like Nelson, Lieberman, and bribes to Mary Landreu. I think Kerry or Schumer would have been more likely to twist common sense into Snowe and Collins, and pass a bill in several steps.

Goodman is pissed at Obama. I would love Goodman to run for higher office. He is extremely pro growth and pro business. He is fiscally much more identified as a conservative while socially he is deifnately a libertarian. Hey may still run for guvna as an Indy. He won't run for the senate, Goodman loves htis state and loves Las Vegas even more. He would not want to have to go to DC. But he would be a great governor with his fscal policy and pro growth policy.

He's not your typical anti business anti growth democrat, nor is he your typical socally conservative right winger.

Stillow, I'm interested to know who your voting for in the primary. I think that Tarkanian could easily screw this u like in his previous election and that Krolicki has too much baggage. Which is why I think Sue Lowden is probably the chance at defeating him. Not to mention that Lowden supposedly has 50 million dollars and will spend every penny of it that she has to in order to win.

I'd like Schumer to be majority leader. He's far more strategic and blunt. Reid was way too passive although probably better at bridging the gap than what Schumer is capable of. I think Schumer could take the flak the job brings. I know already Boehner and Cantor would be just as fail as Pelosi and Reid in a majority position. I'm just curious why such losers always get the top position.

Schumer would be a good majority leader. He'd get tons of bills passed and wouldn't care if he had to ram them through with 50 votes + Joe Biden. Bill Frist got anything George W. Bush wanted passed with out 60 votes. In addition, on many bills that Bill Frist got passed he did not even get the votes of moderate republicans like Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Gordon Smith or Lincoln Chafee. Harry Reid who had all the political capital in the world can't get anything passed.

I like Tark, but am supporting Lowden in the primary.

Schumer, though I find him to be a miserable human being and all around scum bag of a person, he would be a much more effective leader for you Dems. You guys need to sotp picking leaders from right leaning states. Schumer is a hard liner and would play dirty when needed....

I hope Goodman will run. How likely would it be? Democrats have to be logical. Dodd's resignation was a good thing and a sign that it isn't always the party, it is the person. I always support the most winnable Democrat. If times are tough, I would rather see a more conservative democrat. My neigbhor NH has a tough race with a woman who is popular among independents vs a very conservative state rep who isn't well liked among independents. I don't know if republican voters in NH will be looking closely to the polls like we do. Hodes, the Democrat is an incumbent and is a left of ctr but has had a good record with small businesses and isn't in favor of gun control.

Goodman is not a democrat. He is an Indy. Like I said on fiscal issues he is probably more republican and on social issues he is more dem/libertarian.

But I doubt he will run. He loves Vegas so much he just wouldn't want to move up north to the capitol.

Exactly what is it that makes him a "scum bag" and "miserable?" Furthermore, what makes you the judge of someone?

aaron - Did I offend you hypersensitvie liberal heart? What give sm the right to judge someone? I dunno, maybe because I am on a blog where people post OPINIONS......if that is offensive to you in some way perahps you should tune into another site where everyone holds hands and talks about how lovely they all are.

"Did I offend you hypersensitvie liberal heart?"

No. But you would probably not like it if I called Sarah Palin or Eric Cantor or whatever republican a miserable human being and a scum bag. I wouldn't do that because it's a pretty nasty thing to call someone, especially if I don't know them.

The only reason that I can think of for you referring to Chuck Schumer that way is the fact that he's a democratic politician and an unabashedly liberal one. If you think all democrats and/or are scum, go ahead and say it and don't be hypocritical.

You also didn't answer the first part of my question, Stillow. I was interested in what it is about Chuck Schumer that makes you think that about him.
