Brunner can win this I think. Portman is so tied to the Bush economy it'll be a hard one for him to win even if he's polling positive in this political climate. Portman has money though.

Obama is surprisingly strong in Ohio. I am not sure the Bush card will work in November. It didn't work for Reagan in '82 despite his best efforts to hang the '81-'82 recession around Carter's neck.

The GOP is STILL using the Carter card after 30 years! They've certainly milked that one as far as it can go.

The Bush card will work better with Portman, since he was Bush's right hand man and helped create many of the policies that are hurting Ohio. A smarter target of attack would not be to attack him as Bush's man, per se, but as the guy who helped set the economic crisis in motion.
