My God. Coburn and Inhofe at 61 percent favorability rating? I think OK would have Adolph Hitler higher than Obama too if he was in power. I don't know how poor the education system in OK can be when they will actually elect these people. It isn't even the policies and views of Coburn and Inhofe, it is just the things they come out and say in public; refusing to meet sotamayar, travelling to Uganda knowing that the regime over there had theocratic policies punishing gays with prison or death; Coburn stated that abortion doctors should be executed and he was probably opening up champagne when Dr Tiller was killed. I am not saying that conservatives don't deserve a place in politics, but can't they find anyone who can communicate their beliefs coherantly without sounding like a maniac.

Well I challenge conservatives to find comments from Pat Leahy, John Kerry and Bernie Sanders that are equally as offensive. I bet you can't find anything.

I did really like JC Watts. I wonder why he got out of politics. He seemed to embody conservative ideas but really seemed like the kind of guy I could respect. Does anyone know why he left politics? One poll had him running against Coburn in the GOP primary. He would be a good governor.

Farleft,
You should go to www.howobamagotelected.com and see how the really uneducated picked their leader.
And traveling to Uganda is a bad thing. Uh, Kerry just last week wanted to visit Iran and Admadinejad. Talk about theocratic regimes. Luckily, Iran was smart enough to reject his visa which says a lot. Too bad the people of Massachusetts weren't as smaahhhtt...
And Bernie Sanders is an avowed socialist. He just needs to tell people that and it shows the lack of intelligence.

As Bill Clinton said "A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee." Now he's our president. Who are the uneducated?
And the people of Mass would elect Mao or Stalin if he was up for election back in Nov of '08. What's your point?

Those of us on this side of the equation can only view with wonder and admiration that enlightened 36%.

I would like to see Inhofe run for President. He is a true conservative and a charismatic fellow.

Oh come on. Bill Clinton said that statement about "getting us coffee" with a few people. He didn't say it in a speech. It was Clinton's stupidity though to know better that evesdropping, jackass reporters would be around the corner.
Inhofe for president? That is insane. I do have to say that with the cold weather we have been having, I could understand why people would think global warming is a hoax. I do have to say that the timing was poor when Obama went to the climate change seminar. I do think climate change is real but it is overblown. I would have advised Obama to have waited until summer when the heat is unbearable.

Harry Reid may have made a mistake by using the word Negro, but the GOP should keep their mouths shut after George Allen's public Maccaca speech. He intended on saying that and Trent Lott, told a group of Republicans, many of them from the northeast, that "we are proud we voted for strom thurmond". That meant that Thurmond wanted to repeal anti-lynching laws, keep segregated drinking fountains and parks. That was the climate that Strong thurmond wanted back in 1948. Trent lott said this publicly. Besides the GOP always has tried hard to think up reasons in the past to not pass hate crimes laws. I think they should keep their mouths shut until they can set better examples.

Didn't Edmondson have a daughter or neice in Oklahoma who was involved with a series of murders? I watched a program on TV on ID Discovery channel about an Edmonson girl who murdered people with her boyfriend and he went to death row, and she got special treatment and got off with a 12 year sentence because she was politically connected. I guess if that is the best the Democrats can do in OK, than it is obvious why the GOP wins most elections.

I did my research. It was Drew's brother James who had the daughter involved with the murders. Here is what I pulled up. I am a huge fan of cable crime shows and pulled this up on line.
His daughter Sarah Edmondson is currently serving a 35-year prison sentence for her role in a movie-inspired crime spree with her boyfriend which included a murder and robbery in Mississippi, and a robbery and attempted murder in Louisiana.
Thank God she got 35 years, rather than 12 for those things. Having the neice involved with murder is bad enough, but it clearly sounds like she got special treatment for being royalty. It made me sick.

Everybody,
Having a particular point of view does not make someone intelligent or stupid. The ability to articulate that view and make rational arguments on it does.
So I say let's stop insulting each other. Stop using labels( i.e Socialist, Racist. Baby killer, women- hater etc. etc.) as an excuse for not being able to articulate a viewpoint and have a rational civil discussion. I apologize if at any time I have done that. Maybe that's way to much to ask in this era of spin and disinformation. For all our sakes I truly hope not.
