Toomey is too conservative for Pennsylvania.

Gopherguy, now THERE is a profound statement. Back it up with n explanation.
This race will be extremely close. Toomey is the type of good government conservative - think of Paul Ryan - who appeals to fiscally conservative blue-collar Dems as well as Republicans. This is not your typical establishment GOPer or doctrinaire right-winger.
Write off Toomey as too conservative for PA at your own peril. He is going to surprise a lot of people next year.

As the poll suggests, Sestak is probably a bigger worry for Toomey. Sestak is a 4 star admiral with a strong rep. Toomey is a Libertarian w/o strong social conservative gravitas. Tax cutters just don't get the "bitter..guns" crowd excited in the "T" of PA. Sestak can hold Dem districts AND win potential Toomey voters. Arlen can't. Toomey knows this. He is Arlen's biggest fan right now.

Toomey can win based on the anti specter vote. People see Specter as the typical self serving politician. There will be several voters who vote against him and not necessarily for toomey. Elections are not always who you want to win, its who you do not want to win. I am not so sure all those Dems who spent years voting against specter will bother showing up to suddenly vote for him.

Sestak will blow Specter out of the water after his campaign gets some steam. I think locally Specter somewhat killed republican politics in PA and him masquerading around as a Democrat will probably be short lived.
