PA should be going yellow soon.

Looking good for McCain. Palin clearly making a difference here as union members relate to her blue collar roots. Also women in PA are loving her. This is very good.
Posted on September 10, 2008 3:42 PM
not even close to being toss up yet. only have two polls showing a 2 point lead for obama.
Posted on September 10, 2008 3:46 PM
This poll was conducted right after RNC, when McCain peaked. It is too early to call it a close race in PA. Next week's polls will give a better idea.
Posted on September 10, 2008 3:48 PM
Outside of Philly and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is pure conservative country. They certainly cling to their guns and their religions.
Posted on September 10, 2008 3:48 PM
Bitter religious gun clingers in the "T" section of Pennsylvania may just well carry McCain-Palin to a surprise victory! However, McCain-Palin will have to have a good LEAD before election day to overcome dirty Philadelphia democrat voting fraud.
Posted on September 10, 2008 3:51 PM
PA is a moderate state that booted out Rick Santorum and kept Arlen Specter. If conservative McCain and Palin can take PA, then they certainly deserve the election. However, I find it highly unlikely despite this particular poll.
Posted on September 10, 2008 3:53 PM
Well certainly Pennsylvania is trending toward toss-up.
Gone are the days of Obama's "insurmountable" 9, 10+ point lead.
So much for "Amtrak" Joe's appeal with blue-collar Pennsylvanians. Yet another place where Hillary could have helped.
Posted on September 10, 2008 3:56 PM
Seems to me conservative Dems may be thinking twice about electing a liberal who slams them on there beleifs....
Posted on September 10, 2008 3:57 PM
Strategic Vision isn't this a hard core GOP pollster?
This is anothe poll probably disenfrachising 25% of Philly!

'
isn't that what you said abou tthe michigan poll....?

I asked a question, are you giving me an answer as I keep on asking questions and I never seem to get a straight answer.
Answering your question NO

Dick Morris is one of the most astute political strategists and analysts out there today. This former "Bill" Clinton adviser sees a dramatic shift toward McCain and momentum on his side. It's not over, but it is exciting.
Posted on September 10, 2008 4:12 PM
NeverMetOrAnsweredAStraightQuestion
Dick Morris needs to keep his ratings up with FOX.
I am still waiting for your defence of Bush's policies, you know all those supported by McCain and Palin
Posted on September 10, 2008 4:19 PM
Guys, need I remind you that this poll was taken from the 5th through 7th. This is not good news for McCain if that's the best he can do in Penn the weekend after his convention.
Posted on September 10, 2008 4:20 PM
Thoughtful:
Apparently you couldn't list even one failed Bush policy that McCain supports, so you lose. Your silence was deafening, and spoke for you. Keep chanting the Obama mantra... More of the same, because that's what "change" really means to a liberal. Keep cutting and pasting the daily dem talking points of your sacred messiah. They're not working for him either.
I won't even bother to wait for your non-substantive response. We're done. Blessings!
Posted on September 10, 2008 4:26 PM
Republican polling firm--so it's more like Obama 49, McCain 41.
Posted on September 10, 2008 4:28 PM
This is an RNC poll that was conducted right after the RNC convention and it shows Obama up by 2 points. Obama's the one in trouble? Looks like PA is staying blue.
Posted on September 10, 2008 4:31 PM
Stillow,
For the record (I know you don't care):
Obama didn't slam anybody on their beliefs. He implied that many people were bitter and gullible--perfect targets for Rovian mind-control. The point is that people who have been ignored and frustrated by government are neo-conned into believing that if you don't vote Republican you won't be able to hunt or protect yourself or worship freely, and you'll soon be overrun by AA's and Meskins.
It's classic fascist chicanery (What would you think if you knew John McCain had a black child?) designed to divert public attention from corporate piracy and to keep voters mad about red-herring issues. Result: the rich get richer and the poor have to pray for prosperity in church. Perfect!
Does anyone deny that neocons are charlatans, and that their lies helped W get appointed/elected? Why did the lies work?
They want your guns, they'll corrupt your daughters, they want all your money, they want to reward laziness, they're elitists, they're not like you.

How many Banks need to go bust/
How many people need to be unemployed/
How many of our forces and innocents needed to get killed in Iraq?
Defend Bush/Cheney you can't, all you can do is change the subject, hide behind insults and Lie!

Stillow,
You still have more patience than I do. I just have no use for those that adopt the tone of "the accuser" rather than make a decent argument, or those that use tired cliches when they have no substance. I guess it's the old joke, "What does a lib do when he comes to a fork in the road?"
Posted on September 10, 2008 4:53 PM
@NeverMetAnHonestLib
Noone will engage you head on when every argument is on your terms. I continue to await your response to the failed Veteran's Benefits policy stance of the Bush/McCain policy framework. To date you have still failed to support any policies to show otherwise of my supported claims. I anxiously await your analysis.
Posted on September 10, 2008 5:05 PM
@NeverMetAnHonestLib-
Yeah, because you guys are the party of patience and tolerance and education, right? So bright you drove the US Dollar to record lows, US Debt to record highs, and the US military to the brink of exhaustion? What does a Republican do when he comes to a fork in the road? Same thing he does with everything else. Wish he had a brain to make a decision.
Posted on September 10, 2008 5:14 PM
@Basil
There ya go again....let some liberal come and save the ignorant misguided people from themselves. Perhaps people actually enjoy there beleif in God and religion....maybe people actually enjoy hunting....and maybe, just maybe people like the fact they can own a firearm to keep at home to protect against a would be intruder.
Good ole' libs though, oh those ignorant fools, clining to guns and relgiion out of bitterness.
And you wonder why libs are called elitists.
You're to ignorant to take care of yourself, you need these g'ment programs to do it for you. And we'll make the evil successful peole pay for it. You just sit there and obey and we, the g'ment will take care of everything you need.
Amazing...............
Posted on September 10, 2008 5:16 PM
@cmbat
Uhhh, Bush, nor the g'ment control dollar valuation. The dollar is devalued because Greenspan and the Fed went on a printing binge starting in 1999 and never stopped. Lowring rates to .25 percent....it has nothing to do with Clinton, Bush or the g'ment. Nice try though. But Greenspan printed way to many dollars, and just like with anything (including oil you libs) whenever you make more of something, its value or cost goes down.
Posted on September 10, 2008 5:21 PM
@Stillow
You're dreamin' buddy. Charts don't lie, people do.

@cmbat
LOL, you can send any chart you want, this is stuff you learn in basic economics in school....oh maybe your school spent to much time on rationing out condoms instead of teaching econ....
Greenspan printed more money, pumping billions into the system...a flood of dollars hit the market.....the value goes down. Even most of the libs on here understand valuation of currency. If I flood the market with philly cheese steaks, the value to buy those goes way down because of an oversupply. Send any chart you want, but the Fed is who makes monetary policy, not the president!
Heh, I can't even beleive I have to explain this to you.
Posted on September 10, 2008 5:32 PM
This poll shows McCain unable to take the lead in PA, despite the fact that it was taken at the height of his Palin/convention bounce (the first three days after the RNC), and despite the fact that it was conducted by a Republican pollster.
Not surprisingly, the SV polls of PA before the 2004 election under-estimated Kerry's support there. See:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/Presidential_04/pa_polls.html
SV typically asks questions with right-wing frames before asking the horse-race question, which may nudge (if not push) respondents toward the Republican candidate. SV ranked 16th among pollsters through May 7th of this calendar year. See:
http://www.surveyusa.com/index.php/surveyusa-report-cards/
Posted on September 10, 2008 5:32 PM
No poll has shown McCain ahead in PA since April.
Posted on September 10, 2008 5:37 PM
@stillow-
Sorry, guess you're mixing Economics up with Home Ec. The Fed does print money, and in 1999, it did it heavily ahead of Y2K to avert a bank run, but it pulled most of that back afterward. The bulk of the decline in the US Dollar has come from the excessive printing of money that has been required due to failed Republican policies on balancing the budget, and the good news is that most of the country is brighter than you, so I don't have to worry about it.
Posted on September 10, 2008 5:53 PM
Stillow,
Obviously they and you enjoy God and guns. Have at it. I own a gun myself, and I'm a religious person. The point is they aren't the main subject matter of politics and government, which is all Obama (a Christian in a more honest sense than you, in my opinion) said.
Nobody ever wanted your hunting rifles and nobody ever wanted to stop you from worshiping whatever deity you like. Neocons have successfully conned you and lots of other folks into thinking you're about to be martyred, so just focus on that. To hear them talk, all the gov't can do is allow you to keep your gun loaded and your church open. Check out the definition of fascism and it sounds like Cheney/Dubya.
"Evil successful people?" There's nothing wrong with success until you rig the gov't to insure that everybody but you gets screwed. That's the Godly Oligarch Party platform in a nutshell. Try reading George Lakoff on this point. Your position mirror's Dan Quayle's, and it's nuts.
All the views you impute to me are just shadows of your own position, as has been pointed out by others. I suppose you think there's no such thing, for example, as predatory lending practices. I also suppose you think FDR was satan and that you'd eliminate the gov't altogether (except for our glorious military). Good luck with that.
You're about as close to the Taliban as Americans get, and it's not what the country needs more of.
Posted on September 10, 2008 5:54 PM
@Basil
Did you cut and paste that right from the Kos....or do you actually think that way?
Posted on September 10, 2008 6:01 PM
In spite of all the comments above, Obama seems to be holding a small, steady lead in Pennsylvania based on the regression line strategy of this website. This would portend well for Obama, and not well for McCain.
Maybe Joe Biden's Scranton birth DOES make a difference.
Other people have said this, but it all comes down to Ohio.
Posted on September 10, 2008 6:22 PM
Stillow:
"Why do the BEST PEOPLE get punished the most by higher taxes?" was Dan Quayle's question to some righteous righties (to Jehovah-like thunderous applause).
Are you that good? I mean, you're good enough (determining evil on this scale is above my pay grade, so you're OK with me), but are you THAT good? I know I'm not.
I guess if you've got wealth, exclusivity and guaranteed immortality from the only power that matters, you've got just about everything. So eventually, if things work out, you've got all the money (and all the great stuff), you're alone (or with some friends if you're lucky), and everybody else is dead. Cool!
If you don't. Talk to the Hand of God pal.
Is that the profile of a devoted Palin supporter? Inquiring minds want to know.
And if you run on a "Family Values" platform, what's your idea of a family? Do you have any examples so we could know what you mean? Does being a mother constitute executive experience?
No, I don't follow Kos. Sorry. Do you?
Posted on September 10, 2008 8:49 PM
Andy:
Silly lib, you already got my response and gracious well-supported argument. You're backed into a corner, so I'll back off and let you recover. Try doing a little research and you can come up with one or two failed Bush "policies." But you'll be hard-pressed to find any that McCain supports. BTY, every President has had failed policies--even your beloved Clinton. Individual pieces of legislation don't count, as I already explained. And no, it's not a matter of semantics. A little research will make your case stronger and you a better debater.
My challenge still stands.

" He (Obama) implied that many people were bitter and gullible--"
he implied it by calling them bitter and gullible?
huh?
quin has the margin at 3%..
