Specter is looking strong.

This is disappointing. I still think that Specter will get killed as a Democrat. He is favorable among Democrats. I still see it as Lieberman running as a Republican in 2012.

I actually agree with farleft. Specter will wi nthe primary, but I think toomey is going to pick this seat up for the GOP.With all Dems now swimming against the tide, this seat is primed to flip.

Hey, Mike Pence may run in Indiana. I never would h ave thought that Bayh could have been so pathetic in not considering the public option back in March. Both progressives and libertarians will both team up against this guy Pence; a denier that Sadaam hussein was involved with 9/11, a supporter of increasing forces throughout the middle east and raising more military spending; a anti- choice so radical that he has been on religious stations vowing to ban all abortions under any circumstances. A huge contributor to focus on the family and a host on Pat Robertson's 700 club and encouraging failed abstinence programs at public schools. Hey, Evan Bayh, you better glue your ass to your seat and have a democratic victory, or the next Senator of Indiana will be speaking tongues on the senate floor.

Register Democrat for the primary and vote in the weaker candidate to vote againt in the election. Its too easy to see from miles away.

Sestak can't win this. He is a far-left candidate when the country is vehemently rejecting the far-left in spades.

I think the race between Specter and Toomey will be tight.

Well PA has enough poverty and enough crime in it's cities, and needs someone with fresh ideas like sestak who has the energy to reach out to these people; even though there are lots of conservatives there, it is a battleground. Sestak is not any more liberal than Russ Feingold, and Wisconsin and PA are quite similar being among the redest of the blue states along with Iowa. These states tend to elect progressives when it is a Democrat and when they elect a republican they are neo-cons. These states would roll the dice and pick a more progressive democrat than sell out and pick someone like Evan Bayh.

We need to do away with Republicans and Democrats and simply have a progressive or labor party and a Conservative party. I think that these definititions would be more convincing to voters. Would the Conservative party have an advantage? Of course, but I don't believe that their policies over the long term would benefit the American people. Progressives would have no choice but to have the mission of marketing themselves all over the country. I think this would make it so aspiring politicians would have to more clearly define what their ideology is to the people of their state.

Ya I can see it now....life in liberal land.

Where abortion is the primary form of birth control. Where criminal shave guns, but citizens do not. Where one man is sent to work twice as long so another doesn't have to work. Where your wages are taxed at 90 percent. G'ment provides your healthcare, until you get old. Where the have nots take fro mthe haves, until bto hbecome have nots. Where terrorists are given lawyers instead of questioned on what they know. Where your told where to live and what to drive. Where your told whats good for you and whats not. Where your told what you can or cannot eat. Where you can smoke pot, but not a cigarette. Where you can buy a prostitue but not a SUV.

I could go on by im getting sic kto mystomach.

Stillow: You don't have it right. I consider myself pro-choice and uphold roe vs wade, but that doesn't make me disrespect the issue. I don't think it is good in all circumstances, but if a woman is raped she should clearly be able to have it if she chooses. I support programs to make it so woman who may consider abortions, be able to have extended maternity leave, and daycare assistance.

"Where one man is sent to work twice as long so another doesn't have to work. "

I know tons of uninsured hard working people who are not insured for healthcare and a lot of people who are just scraping by who are not on welfare. The "welfare queen" perception exists, but doesn't apply to most poor people.

I don't believe in torture no matter what the person accused may have done. I also think all accused people regardless of natural origin deserve to be defended. A foreign terrorist isn't going to have a good defense, so he probably will be convicted. A Domestic terrorist, Tim Mcveigh had a defense and was convicted.

As for pot legalization, I can honestly say perscription drugs and over the counter drugs have killed more people than pot ever has, and it is a cash crop in California that has created jobs. I think medical marjuana should be used everywhere. People are in pain and they prefer something more organic than deadly opiates, than I think they should be able to get pot and possess it. We imprison people for selling pot, yet give 2nd degree sex perverts a slap on the wrist. It isn't fair. Our prisons are overcrowded.

Just because i am liberal doesn't mean I am a woos. I believe we have to be tough on crime, but to deny anyone of a criminal defense who was caught on our soil is unAmerican in my opinion.

As far as being told where you can and cannot eat, I really don't know what you are talking about. You'll have to explain that one.

By the way, Obama got an F from the National gun control organization, meaning he has done nothing to make handgun laws more strict.

As for being taxed at "90 percent" I actually noticed Canada's tax rate on people making under 200,000 a year is just slightly higher than here. Finland actually pays less taxes than America and there you have a thriving social democracy.

I will be happy if all the conservadems are gone by 2010. I guess w/out the conservadems or DINOs, dems in congress would have passed the health care legislation maybe through reconciliation and the issue would have been off the table for the admin to concentrate on the Job Bill and tax financial institution regulations. The dittering by the dems in congress, especially the senate, is the cause of problem we have and gave Scott Brown a lot of opening. On one hand you have libs not happy with the senate bill, independents confused about the whole thing and an organized right wing nuts saying no to anything. What MA voters are saying is that you had 60 filibuster-proof majority and you failed to govern. Now let's give you 59 and see whether that will bring you to your senses. At this point Prez Obama is in a fix as to what to do. My advise is to pass only public option through reconciliation and thrash the rest of the bill since Americans don't want it. The PO is the most popular piece in the whole debate. I also think the Dorgan ammendment for drug importation should be brought back to the table.

Probably the truest statement I've ever heard you say FarLeft.

It does exist and it isn't poor people. It's single white women with kids who lives with her parents, collects welfare, and doesn't work yet goes to the bar every friday trying to find the next babydaddy.

I see it whenever I go home to Ohio and that is what makes me sick.

Who cares who win in 2010 or 2012.It will be the same people that are always elected in. The same people who screw americans every chance they and have you guys in here arguing as if they did wonderful things for you. This is not the republicans and democrats of old who really cared about americans and their plight. All they care is where there "campaign" money comes from and how to stay in power so they can get more "campaign" money. This is all a ploy. They were never going to pass healthcare in any form. If they were it would have been done months. And they were really that determined to do so we wouldn't be having this discussion in freakin January 2010.They are using the same sorry tactics they use every election cycle. The same slow walk it till it dies strategem. The blame the other party and act like you angry agaisnt them for doing. The party of no(an instant classic for dems and repubs). And finally the lets bring a new guy in so the people see a fresh face and think he is different than us(also known as the outsider or maverick or the change candidate). These guys are not here to serve your interest. They are here to serve those who have money. Those like them. Whether the name is Scott Brown or Barack Obama. Yes I talked about partisanship destroying america earlier. And it will. Because we americans let these knuckleheads turn us into kool aid drinking spokeperson for their fake causes and so called outrage. and we stupidly follow with the libs are unamerican , repubs hate the poor, socialist, anarchist nonsense. Meanwhile they sit at the bar drinking beer thinking of new ways to gin up the hatred and keep americans blind. Do you honestly think they care that you are mad about spending? Or that you are angry about the deficit? Has the deficit truly ever stopped rising when either party was in power? They are the boyfrind who says he's sorry for cheating while grabbing the other girls butt. They can't be trusted.

As the One would say, "Let me be clear". After the results in MA reconciliation is not an option. You still need 50 votes for reconciliation and there is no way they could even come up with that. Best case is that pieces are voted on which will include tort reform - maybe the first piece? HCR has been the worst political decision since, well, 1994 when the liberals tried to ram it through last time.

Amen Saywhat90. Reminds me of how Saudi Arabia funds all of these extreme ideologues to stoke fear and hatred of the US and the West, all in order to control the population and keep them from seeing how rich the royal family is getting. Here we end up with the far left and right raging, while politicians work to keep corporation raking in billions to secure their multi-million $ PAC, & lobbyist jobs.

Its funny people are outraged at the deficit, but anything needs to happen at the local level and people are like the Feds should pay for that not me...and we end up where we are. Politicians getting rich, and keeping dumb people happy spending money we don't have.

I challenge anyone here to find 150 Billion in cuts your wiling to make a year. That would be a 1/6 of our current problem. To put in perspective let's take all of "Welfare", it's hard as TANF's in HHS and Food Stamps is in Agriculture. Let's be safe and eliminate the whole departments: 69.3B for HHS, 20.2B for Agriculture and for good measure let's take out Education, just to cover our bases...56.0B =145.5B. Bummer I couldn't get to 150B. (2008 numbers by the way from Wiki) Damn welfare mom's (and cancer research and little kids education, etc.) busting our chops no wonder were taxed at such exorbitant rates...accounting for 5% of the budget.
