How strange that while Gallup and Rasmussen have McCain up by 5% and 3% respectively today, NYT/CBS show Obama with a huge 11% lead.

This is even weirder if we remember that less than a week ago, NYT/CBS itself had both Obama and McCain tied up.

It's possible that the New York Times, which hates John McCain, made these numbers up in order to hurt its nemesis.

LOL. Yeah right New York times makes up numbers because they hate McCain. LOL. How do you come up with this stuff by watching comedy central?

no, Politial_junki. New York Times made up that McCain was banging a woman a few years ago without providing evidence; that's why the newspaper was embarassed by media critics left and right. They have also made up weapons of mass destruction and have plagiarized the Miami Herald.

Trust me, the New York Times makes stuff up, and this strange outlier may be another case in point.

Kingsbridge, their news team is different from their pollsters, the answer lies in the sample, as they have those under 30 representing 22% of the electorate and those over 65 representing 16% of the electorate, as a result they are saying that they believe that the youth vote will come out in force this year

Thanks, axt., but I assume that they had the same percentage of young people in the poll they released less than 1 week ago, (in the one conducted April 25-29), yet back then this poll was consistent with Rasmussen, which had McCain up by 1% at the same time, and Gallup, which had Mcain 4% ahead of Obama.

Since that late April NYT/CBS poll, McCain has actually improved in Rasmussen and slightly (1%) in Gallup.

What's up with that? I don't see how the young/old ratio can explain that Obama surged so drastically in such a short span (less than a week) without it reflecting elsewhere.

So, let me get this straight. You can't be bothered to go look up the internals yourself... instead you are accusing the paper & CBS news of making up poll numbers. Did I get that basically correct?

I hope you understand how silly that sounds.
