POLL: Cook/RT 2008 Survey


A new Cook Political Report/RT Strategies national survey of 807 registered voters (conducted 3/29 through 4/1) finds:

  • 28% of Americans think the new Democratic majority in Congress is doing better than the previous Republican majority, 17% say worse, and 45% say about the same.
  • Among 355 Democrats, Sen. Hillary Clinton (at 41%) leads former Sen. John Edwards (19%) and Sen. Barack Obama (17%) in a national primary.
  • Among 290 Republicans, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (at 34%) leads Sen. John McCain (17%), former Sen. Fred Thompson (10%), former Speaker Newt Gingrich (9%), and former Gov. Mitt Romney (6%) in a national primary.
