It's absolutely amazing that after 2+ weeks of the national media unanimously portraying Obama as the Democratic nominee, Clinton continues to poll better than Obama both in most national match-ups against McCain AND in in the majority of the important swing states, including all the biggest and most important one. If this isn't evidence that Obama needs Clinton on his ticket, I don't know what is.

Ahh, the sympathy vote.

Come on, is it really that surprising that a candidate on the level of Hillary Clinton, when cast in the ultimate underdog role, does well in polling?

When Obama was constantly getting the underdog coverage he quickly increased his polling and caught up to her. Once that title switched Hillary started keeping up with him and stopped losing ground.

It also has to do with which candidate is facing all the heat. When Hillary was the front-runner she slowly lost ground the entire time until she ended up getting passed by Obama. Obama has managed to hold his front-runner status for a few months now against the strongest political family in democratic politics. Quite impressive really.

But in the end we have two great candidates, both who made it all the way to the end. One of them has to win though and the winner will be decided by the delegates as is the rules. If Hillary wants to win she had better start getting a lot of supers to go for her very quickly.. 80%+. It doesn't really matter who is polling better, polls don't decide the candidate... voting does... and when people voted they've put Obama in the lead by approximate a 5% margin in delegates.
