A FOX poll!! ROTFLMAO!! I'm sure that's legit!

Wow... 19% undecided with only McCain & Obama and 17% undecided with Nader and Barr added. 34% undecided among Independents.

No one can complain about the Democrats being under-represented in this poll.... Democrats 42%, Republicans 32%, Unaffilliated 25% (Independent 19%).

I would like to see the Economy question broken with a general subcategory of energy. Specific questions were asked on the following:
1. Increase drilling for oil in U.S.--75%
2. Increase offshore drilling--71%
3. Drill in ANWR--56%
4. Reduce speed limit to 55mph--43%
5. Rationing gas and oil--28%
6. Increase federal gas tax--14%

I might add that the Democrats have already proposed increasing the federal gas tax to replenish the Highway Trust Fund. Bad idea.

Most popular idea (drilling offshore per state approval but not ANWR) is McCain's position and Obama says absolutely NO to offshore drilling.

I am disappointed in the large negative reaction to 55mph. Of course, where I live the highest speed limit is 60mph and it is only on one nearby federal highway for a limited area... the rest is 55mph.

The 1/3 undecided among Independents tracks with several other national polls.

I do not see where this poll is suspect just because it is FOX. Would that also make all NBC polls suspect?

Fox polls ALWAYS have way too many undecideds. Does this make the polls biased? No. Does it make this inaccurate? Yes.

Then again...their news office is committed to electing Republicans. Their opinion office is committed to seeing Democrats throw in jail as traitors. Why should we trust any of their products?

If any liberals would take the time to compare Fox shows with MSNBC shows and CNN political shows you would see that Fox is the only fair and balanced network. You just don't like to hear the other sides opinion. CNN/MSNC/Obama channels ONLY give your sides point of view. That is why Fox is #1 and O'Reily #1 for 7 years in a row. The other channels are like 30th or something.

LOL - fair and balanced. I'm crying - too funny. They hire fact writers!! Hahahaha - People not to check facts, but to write them - like the guy yesterday who said convoys in America are attacked as often as convoys in Iraq. Woooooohhh, ok breathe in.

No Fox is right, Kerry wasn't a war hero but a coward, and a traitor and Obama is actively committing high treason and insuring death to Americans.

Any way, the poll is what the poll is. It is an campaign internal poll - released for the benefit of a campaign. It may be accurate, but I wouldn't give it any more weight than I'd give a poll out of Obama's camp.

Funny that WSJ poll though - both entities controlled by the same organization polling almost simultaneously ouitliers on either side of the range. Confusing? Maybe that's the point.

You all know what I think about Fox News. Their polls are push polls in my opinion.

Look at this question:
19. Have you heard any of your friends and neighbors say there is something
about Barack Obama that scares them?

23. Based on the campaign so far, has Barack Obama offered any truly new ideas?

25. Which presidential candidate -- Barack Obama or John McCain -- do you think
most members of the media want to win the election?

27. Some people believe Barack Obama, despite his professed Christianity, is
secretly a Muslim. Others say that is just a rumor and Obama really is a
Christian as he says, and point out he’s attended a Christian church for years.
What do you believe -- is Obama a Muslim or a Christian?

31. Does Barack Obama’s popularity overseas make you more likely or less likely
to vote for him for president?

32. Do you think Barack Obama’s trip to Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East
is better described as a fact-finding trip or as a campaign event?

33. Do you think Barack Obama had already made up his mind on Iraq before the
trip or could this week’s visit to Iraq change his mind?

41. – 46. Thinking now about the energy situation, please tell me if you favor
or oppose the following ways to reduce the country's dependence on foreign oil
and make the United States more energy independent.

Increasing drilling for oil
in the United States immediately

Increasing offshore drilling in U.S.
coastal areas

Drilling for oil in a small area
of the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge

Reducing the speed limit on interstate
highways to 55 miles per hour

Rationing gasoline and oil

Increasing the federal tax on gasoline
============================================
After the poll you are left thinking that other than drilling the rest of options are pure punishment. It really sounds hillarious!!!
The questions and the wording is just pure push-polling. You are left wondering is there is something scary about Barack, notice that they introduce the muslim thing right before McCains' heroic time as a POW. So, the option becomes a muslim or a war hero!!

The thing is so funny!!

This particular poll shows a slightly less margin for Obama nationally. So what? Is it time for the McCain folks to cheer? I suppose so, if they want. But there are plenty of other polls showing a clear Obama advantage. Maybe if lots of polls show everything dead even in the next few weeks, the McCain people can start doing cartwheels. At least until they look at the state-by-state polls, which are the ones that really matter.

Too sad for McCain that Obama losing ground doesn't translate into him gaining any, according to his friends at Fox News. Actually, this poll shows that McCain is losing independents in July 32% v. 30%, when in June he was winning them, 38% v. 30%. I honestly find this kind of "fishy." What has McCain done to lose 8% of independents in one month? I frankly think that people want to rest from this campaign for a while and things are going to move after the conventions.

Polling has clearly become just another tool in propoganda for the right-wing. Between Rasmussen, Research 2000 and Fox News/Opinion Dynamics, it's just so clear that there is an intentional will to generate not just biased numbers, but also news tid-bits in order to push the media's discussion of races in favor of Republicans.

Let me quote Richard Nixon on the good old Southern Strategy in 1970. It's just so scary how 38 years later the entire Republican party still lives by this racist mantra.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy#cite_note-2
"From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats."
