POLL: PPP (D) General Election Match-Ups


A new Public Policy Polling (D) automated survey of 545 likely North Carolina voters (conducted 6/19) finds:

  • General election match-ups for President:

    Giuliani 47%, Clinton 43%
    Giuliani 45%, Edwards 46%
    Giuliani 46%, Obama 42%

    McCain 44%, Clinton 45%
    McCain 40%, Edwards 48%
    McCain 45%, Obama 44%

    Romney 41%, Clinton 47%
    Romney 37%, Edwards 51%
    Romney 43%, Obama 47%

    Thompson 46%, Clinton 43%
    Thompson 43%, Edwards 47%
    Thompson 45%, Obama 44%

  • General election match-ups for Senate:

    Dole 46%, Purdue 37%
    Dole 45%, Moore 34%

For the record, neither Purdue nor Moore have expressed any interest to run for the Senate. They are both currently statewide office-holders and candidates for governor, not senator.

It is pretty interesting to note the difference between these results and those of the DSCC poll that showed a generic Dem candidate in competition with Dole.
