This is the second poll like this. The first was SurveyUsa a month ago, 05/16 - 05/18, showing Obama 48% vs. McCain 39%. Now, PPP comes up with Obama 50% vs. McCain 39%. McSame doesn't seem to make any inroads. Pay attention to the polls and see that McCain's numbers either don't change or go down. The numbers that change are Obama's but McSame seems stuck at certain level.

McCain is selling NAFTA to Canada right now and it is doubtful he'll win the blue collar workers when he isn't even trying.

this is not good news for McCain

Can someone give an objective narrative for how the Democratic primary results of March relate to this latest poll? I thought Obama was in trouble in Ohio (and Pennsylvania) because of low blue-collar support. Does this result reflect a large transfer of support from Clinton to Obama? Pardon my lamb-like naivete.

mruth, just cause a person likes Clinton better than Obama, does not mean they like McCain better than Obama

mruth,

That was a media contrived story, like "Obama has trouble with latinos". Well, maybe when compared with an established name like Clinton, he has trouble in Ohio, Penn, and with latinos. But all those groups prefer him to McCain. The media had to keep parroting the same line to contrive a story.

If you think about it, it doesn't make much sense. Why would someone who supports Hillary Clinton switch to McCain for the general? Their policies are polar opposites. People are dumb, but they aren't THAT dumb.

Tulle and onelightonvoice,

Point well taken. The insidious aspect of the media's story was the implication that "hard-working" Clinton voters would not support a black candidate, I.e., that race would trump all other concerns in the voting booths. Apparently, these voters were mischaracterized in an awful way. The MSM really are evil, after all.
