This is pretty good news for Democrats. Note that over 1/3 of independents still have no opinion on Noriega, which suggests that he has some upside based on still being less well-known than Cornyn.

Have a look at the crosstabs in the Presidential race and see if you can tell which candidate is a woman and which candidate supposedly appeals more to younger voters. By and large, the two Democrats appeal to the same voters. Attempts to characterize the demographics of the GE from the primary splits are pure garbage.

It looks like Cornyn is being hurt by Bush's approval/disapproval rating. Makes sense in Texas with the close ties between the two.

Whereas John McCain is seen as more independent of Bush. His campaign against Bush in the 2000 primaries may be paying off for him now. In other words, McCain is already defined as his own man.

I'd say McCain's greatest asset (so far) is that the public don't see McCain as tied to bush whatsoever.

Can the democrats tie him to bush's apron strings? Or will people just see McCain as a non-threatening alternative 4 year placeholder next to an inexperience and naive candidate?
