The Giuliani win in Kansas surprises me. Maybe it's just the name recognition. He can't possibly appeal to Kansans on policy issues such as abortion, gays, and guns. I would discount that part of the poll.

Cane Cattivo:

Kansas is about a third right-wing, a third republican-leaning moderate and a third democrat-leaning (mostly moderate). Moderate democrats (Sebelius, Carlin, Boyda) frequently get elected if running against a stone-age republican. Giuliani does well because of the moderate republican bloc plus the anything-but-Hillary right wingers. So I wouldn't discount those numbers. I would be a bit more surprised at how well Hillary does against Thompson and Romney, but again, many moderates (including republican leaners) are second guessing the R-brand unless the candidate looks pretty different from W.
