Obama can do better than against Clinton because there are some people who wouldn't vote for Clinton just like some wouldn't vote for Obama.
So when lots of democrats came home to Obama, he also had the ones still that voted for him in the primary too.
Expect Obama to get 80% of dems in every state and closer to 90-92% in most states and upwards of 95% in others. The current numbers for Obama are still not showing him with massive dem support, just better than he had. The reason he does so well is because people are fired up for him and they are depressed about mccain.

I don't think the two are related (what proportion of KY are actually registered democrats?).
I still think HRC would have gotten KY to her side, but ti doesn't matter since Obama will win anyway.
