POLL: SurveyUSA New York Primary
A new SurveyUSA automated survey of likely primary voters in New York State (conducted 1/9 through 1/10) finds:
- Among 471 likely Republican primary voters, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani runs at 32%, Sen. John McCain at 29% in a statewide primary; former Gov. Mike Huckabee trails at 12%, former Gov. Mitt Romney at 7%, former Sen. Fred Thompson at 6%.
- Among 957 likely Democratic primary voters, Sen. Hillary Clinton leads Sen. Barack Obama (56% to 29%) in a statewide primary; former Sen. John Edwards trails at 8%.
- All other candidates receive less than five percent each. The margin of sampling error is 4.6 for likely Republican primary voters and 3.2 for likely Democratic primary voters.

Ron Paul's name was asked in this survey (click the link, aren't you all supposed to be internet savvy?) and he received less than five percent.
The smallest lead I have seen in the last several months for Giuliani over McCain in New York is 23. This poll shows Giuliani ahead by only three, consistent with national polls which show Giuliani has lost his lead. Of course, if Giuliani does not win in Florida, and he very well may not, he will not have won a single primary in January, which most likely would make it difficult for him to compete on Feb. 5.
Meanwhile, an idiotic New York Times reporter named Sam Roberts has posted an article titled "Obama Giving Clinton a Race in Her Backyard"
Rudy is in real trouble if he can't hold 50%, or close to it, in New York.
