The number that stands out here is Landrieu 55-39 over Kennedy. This race should be by far the GOP's best pickup opportunity, with a not-so-popular incumbent in the increasingly solid-red South and a well-known challenger.

It's just one poll, of course.

this week looks ugly for obama..mostly his own doing. i would suggest that under pressure, you'll begin to see the 'mean' obama many of us had suspected was well tamped down behind a broad and boyish smile that the media has celebrated thus far.

1.The Florida Poll. as i said in a previous post, tracking back on florida and michigan will the most important tool the DNC has to assess robust general election power. that obama trails mccain at the same ratio that he trailed clinton in the un-primary and that clinton smites mccain suggests that the gap is even broader, that the primary contained some reliable data.

2. coupled with the florida data as long as it is not an outlier, comes the true obama striking back to cover his 'bitter' gaff. what you see already is his tendency to hit low rather than high. he strikes back with ad- homonyms, comments that belittle in haughty tone and content another person's personal traits.

god forbid hillary or mccain dared do that. there's a politically correct shield that forbids the rest of the world from doing the same to him. we just can't, he's black. and he's coasting on it.

look at his recent mockery of hillary's photo op that she was 'throwing a shot back' with a camera crew on hand. he delivered this while cracking up that hers was a desperate act. oh really?

how many different ways can he parse, re state, and re- mix his words like a legal sleight of hand to come out with something wonderful about desperate people running to religion and hugging their guns?

well, you know, he's desperate too. everyone is desperate out there trying to win a close election. a shot of whiskey after a hard day, or a bowling ball thrown in the gutter under whirring cameras. same thing. he also threw back a beer with his new old pal, casey at the bowling alley.

so, for a man who has really had it pretty easy all things considered, it will be very enlightening at this particular juncture to see what he's really made of. can he stick to his enlightened prattle or will he stoop to conquer and stoop to his repressed true natural low.

i bet he'll show his real grudges, the ones that had him in lock step with wright. i think he'll crack especially with these florida stats and if more bad news comes in from PA. his grudges are there. the charisma meter is running down.

Are you actually Mark Penn? Only a Clinton staffer could be so skewed - and so wrong - in their rants about the current state of the "race". That last word is in quotes because only media & clinton hacks think it is still a race while everyone else with a fully functioning non-delusional noggin know that it was over a month ago.

Clinton got booed today again (caught lying yet again - SURPRISE SURPRISE!) by people that were supposedly "not bitter". What a joke. It's too funny how she gets booed everywhere while I haven't yet heard Obama getting booed.

Mark Penn, you might want to stop wasting your time posting nonsensical garbage here and continue with your covert Colombian trade pacts. And tell Slick Willy to help you out, since he's not doing hillary any favors campaigning.

I feel sad for Clinton supporters - so brainwashed they don't even see how much of a cliche the clintons have become. Slimy politicans with no soul - just lies and lies piled on top of each other.

What WON'T Hillary do or say to fulfill her doomed ambitions? She already threw her party under the bus and is now a de facto republican. Yesterday she ripped Gore and Kerry on national tv. Don't think the supers were watching, hill? Maybe she realized her errors and then sipped a whiskey shot (or was it before - whatever). Perhaps she is a prolific drinker - well that would explain the Tall Tale of Tuzla and various other lies - oh wait, I mean "misstatements".

LIAR, LIAR, PANTSUIT ON FIRE!!

Just look at the numbers above. Even with all his recent 'momentum', Obama has a higher negative than positive ratio and doesn't poll quite as well against McCain as Clinton. And America is just getting to know him. And this poll was taken before his arguably elitist "bitter" comments in SF. Yet another thing for the Republicans and 527's to crucify him with in the Fall. They will be able define Obama to America as an out of touch elitist (just as they did w/ Dukakis) because American doesn't know him well. The piece "What Hillary Wishes She Could Say" on Politico today is spot-on. There is no way Obama will carry FL, OH, and PA. So he will lose just like Kerry did. Coupled with the fact that even if only one-third of the 30% of Clinton supporters who currently say they'll back McCain over Obama do so, it effectively gives the election to McCain. I believe as Mario Cuomo does that the only hope the Dems have at this point is a joint ticket. But Obama is very unlikely to offer the slot to Clinton (and she'd probably turn it down anyway). Let's just hope that McCain only services one term.
