POLL: Washington Post/Kaiser/Harvard Virginia Survey

A recent Washington Post-Kaiser Family Foundation-Harvard University statewide survey (story, results) of 1,708 adults in Virginia (conducted 5/3 through 6/3; released 7/7) finds:

  • 40% would prefer the next president to be a Democrat; 33% would prefer a Republican.
  • 37% believe "the U.S. goal of bringing stability to Iraq" is still possible; 58% believe it is not possible.
  • 33% are enthusiastic or satisfied about the Bush administration's policies; 65% are dissatisfied or angry.

Andrew:

What a useless poll. Come election day, voters are not given the choice of "A democrat vs. A republican". Some Democrats have higher appeal than others, and some Republicans are more popular than others. Different hypothetical matchups yield different results.
