This will be a tighter race than people expect. The Democratic candidate is very conservative and a veteran (I could be wrong, but I believe he may be a combat veteran). He will appeal to a lot of culturally conservative white voters. He is probably the best person South Carolina Democrats could have nominated. Don't be surprised if Haley only wins by 6% or 7%.

I think Haley will win by 10% max. Mark Sanford only won re-election in 2006 by 10% and he was very popular at the time. Most of the elections in the past in SC for gov have been a single digit margin of victory. I would expect Haley wins with around 53% with 46% going to Sheheen.

Haley will win big. If she wasn't so pretty, I might say this would be a toss up. I have to hand it to the GOP, they have found some attractive young ladies to be their candidates these days; I wish Democrats could do as well, because looks do sometimes seduce voters.

Haley demonized by her own party puts her as a conservative outsider. She'll win big thanks to her own party's lovely remarks about her.

Martha Coakley was an attractive lady with a great figure (even though that didn't show up well in ads) and she didn't win. Attractive ladies who are in the GOP party tend to win more than dems because there is a lower standard for them. EX: Nikki Haley

jmartin,

2010 will be a vastly different election than 2006. Adjusting for the current environment, i think Haley wins by 15-20%.

Martha Coakley is not attractive. The GOP does by far have the more attractive office holders and candidates. Despite the fact that I wish Palin would go away, she is however very good looking. It works for Fox news, every female on there is hot, while MSNBC has she-males like Maddow and hags like Andrea Mitchell.

@ Country Club Repub

I agree about Palin. I wish she would go back to Alaska, but I would like to get in her pants. Very nice looking woman.

How about Dana Perino? Best press secretary ever!

No, she has quite the temper. I have seen her on Fox news, and she has played into same nonsense I hear from Liz Cheney; Perino isn't that bad but she will not admit to any mistakes Bush made. I really saw little humility from the past regime, whereas I see some admissions of shortcomings from Gibbs.

I did think Tony Snow was a pretty good press secretary and Mcclellan more or less did break the silence of some of the Bush regime's lies and deceptions. I read his book and I think there is still a lot he knows that he is keeping silent about.

I don't know why Gibbs gets so much critisism. He seems like he is low keyed, easy going. At least he is from Alabama, not Chicago.

X-Coakley was wayyyyyy more attractive in person than in photos. In photos she looks like an old hag in person she looks absolutely stunning. Some people just don't photograph well.
@Fieldmarshall. I just have something that will completely discredit your argument. David Beasley (R) won an open seat gubernatorial election in 1994 (a year of doom and gloom for dems) over an unknown dem state senator in South Carolina 50% to 48%. Nikki Haley will win but she will at least by 7% and at most by 10%. Nikky Haley is just a "some dude" candidate who just happened to get Palin and Romney endorsement. Vincent Sheheen is a charismatic conservative democrat who will probably perform among the same lines as Obama in '08. Had Barrett or McMaster won the primary it probably would be a 15% to 20% blowout but that didn't happen.

Sorry I made a mistake, Beasley beat the lt. governor 50% to 48% in 1994. At the time Beasley was an unknown state rep just like Haley. So I think this one won't be a blowout regardless of the climate but Nikki Haley has around a 95% chance of winning it.

I wish Shaheen would have run for the senate against Demint instead of the bozo they have. I still will be convinced Greene is a Republican plant or it was a conspiracy with the ballots. I mean, had they nominated an ordinary person who was unexperienced in elected politics, but was intelligent, I could have understood it. Greene acts like he is little slow. It has nothing to do with the fact he is black, but if he couldn't even explain his viewpoints to Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow, he will look like a fool.

Well the ladies thought Scott Brown was good looking, and I think it was the fact he probably got more woman's vote than any other ordinary Republican candidate in Mass. I noticed a certain trust ordinary woman voters had in him, they didn't in Coakley.

jmartin4s:

I definatly think there is something fishy about Green. I general always try to research the candidate and their past resumes before I decide how I vote in the primary. I don't know why in the world they voted for Green because they were smart enough to pick Sheheen for governer. I think that if Sheheen gets at least 45% or 46%, he would be a good candidate to challenge Graham in 2014 or whoever teabags Graham. Many candidates lose a gubernatorial election and then go on to win a senate seat. I think that may be the case with Sheheen.

I wish Fritz Hollings didn't retire, he was 10 times better than Demint.

Do you think maybe Greene won because his primary opponent is white?
