Between this and the R poll, I think is enough confirmation that this race is within the MoE, small advantage Perry.

My personal feeling, though, is that Perry leads by 4-6, but under 50%. White can't seem to break out of the low 40s, which means he will probably will end up with ~46%, maybe 48% if he gets out the vote in Houston.

People have been saying for a while this is a sleeper race.

Still very close. Are you working on the White Campaign Aaron? If so, I wish you the best of luck. It would be nice to see an upset this year. Perry has been in long enough.

Field Marshal:

The two polls showing the race tight were done by Democrats. Perry is probably up by high single digits.

So, "Democratic philanthropist Bernard Rapoport" wants to commission a poll. He takes a look at all available evidence on performance of pollsters and general reputations, and chooses.....

Zogby???

I have not seen one gop lawmaker speak out against this evangelical lunatic who wants to hold a quran book burning party. I would love to be shown otherwise. Will anyone on here be in attendance?

Zogby is generally inaccurate but I do like this poll, and it does line up pretty well with that Republican internal from earlier.

Here's the trick to winning elections - disregard the polls. Otherwise, who would even consider trying to unseat a Republican governor in Texas? It's how Scott Brown won in Massachusetts when polls showed him losing by over 20 points to Martha Coakley. Just focus on getting out your name and the voters and you'll win.

Field Marshal --

The 42-41 poll was done by a Republican internal group. Come on, man.

This is probably a close race, but this poll was done by Zogby.

@lat: Does it really need to be said? It's a small church (around 50 members) who are blatantly seeking publicity. I think speaking out against them only serves to legitimize them.

Dave,

It's called hypocrisy beyond belief! An Islamic Center in NYC that nobody is disputing has only peaceful intentions gets hammered by the gop right! This right winged nut (I won't call him a minister because what we all do in the toilet every day is what he is!)plans to burn a book that is considered sacred to 1.2 billion people and what do we get from the right? Silence!

Who on the left is speaking out against the church?

Does the right represent the church? That's ridiculous.

Who on the left spoke out about the nutcase who held people hostage in Atlanta with guns and bombs? After all, he did it because he was hoodwinked by AL Gore and the environuts. Who on the left denounced him?

I can't figure out how this race can be so clase, yet Brewer is ahead by 22 points. I mean talking about seceding, may be an ambitious move on Perry's part, but that doesn't make him a madman. My gosh, left wing Vermonters wanted to secede during the height of the Iraq war.

Gov Brewer on the other hand, is a psycho. She talked about beheadings that she had no proof existed. She has investments in privatized prisons that are minimium security, holding probably some serial killers in the making. Law and order? My ass.

As far as I know I agree with Field Marshall. I mean don't listen to Rush Limbaugh, and I hope even he would have the decency not to encourage that pastor who wants to burn the Quaran.

This poll after looking at it closer only polled 10 percent Blacks and 16 percent Hispanics. If more of the minority electorate comes out this year, White can win this one. I looked at the demographics of Texas and it was like 58-42 whites vs Non whites. This poll was 70 percent white, and 26 non white.
