Palin is simply an anomoly here, if she runs, she would probably get frontrunner status with Romney and the Huckster nipping at her heels. If she does not run, this will be a real dog fight between Romney and Huckabee....it would pit fiscal conservatives vs. soclial conservatives i the primary, woudl be intresting to see who would win that shoot out. My guess is Romney will win out if Palin does not run.

Romney is the man to beat. Particularly since the GOP usually nominate the next in line. Haley Barbour is the darkhorse.

I don't think Barber has much of a shot....Palin can throw a real wrench into this pack if she runs, but I do not think she will. Romney has to contend with the religious right who are not fond of mormons, his VP would have to be a well known christain, Huckabee perhaps? Now that Ensign and Sanford have cut there own throats, Romney is definately smiling right now. The intresting party is my spouse and I are real good freinds with a very liberal couple, our kids go to school together and they mentioned they would have voted for Romney in the last election. So he may have some crossover appeal. After all he was governor of Mass....hard to get more blue than that.

Like I said Barbour is a darkhorse but he shouldn't be "misunderestimated". A competent across the board conservative compared to Palin's crazy. Lots of conservatives I know do not trust Romney one iota but he clearly has the edge.

Rasmussen is a right-winger. This may explain Palin's high popularity in this poll. Let's wait until a non-biased pollster duplicates these findings.

@ Kingbridge

Look again. This is a poll of Republican Primary voters. Given that sample these findings are no surprise. Rass may lean right but he's still a good pollster.

Ras is a pretty decent pollster, these results aren't really that surprising seeing as this is of Republican voters.

Too much time before the next cycle kicks off. None of the above should have been a choice. In my mind none of these will turn on a lot of voters.
