I believe Kaiser on this poll and most Democrats who are thinking of voting no this weekend, have to stop looking at polls and wanting to try to keep their jobs and realize that 95 percent of Democratic voters want health care to pass. The GOP may indeed pickup seats either way, but passing health reform wasn't about being popular. Obama himself would rather be a one term president and pass historic legislation, than to be like the Democratic hypocrites in name only.

If dems kill health care, I am certain that half or more of the no votes will lose. I would rather see these conservative districts replaced by Republicans, than to see Democrats wasting money on Democrats who put the special interests before the people.

Democrats can work harder at winning seats in districts where they want a leader with gutts, like Alan Grayson. If they can't pass health care, what good is having a majority.

And I would much rather all the Dems keep their jobs and not pass health care.

Well we have come this close to passing health care and for the Democrats it would be a tragedy if it went down. I have been a health care advocate for years and was an activist for it since I was in college. Some issues are negotiable for me, but I think anything that cuts costs and prevents people being denied by medical conditions is something that any Democrat should support. Supporting HCR to me is the cornerstone of being a Democrat. I wish the GOP had a few more who would support it too just like the great liberal Richard Nixon did when he advocated for insurance reform in 1973. Now it is ridiculous that I am trying to beg Democrats to support a bill and all they care about is being re-elected and being the only elected Democrat from their district since the Civil War. I am sure Insurance companies have given generously to these Democrats who are voting no.

I made my correlation between Slavery being considered okay in America in the 1860's but in most parts of the Country, 40 years later, most everyone was still racist, but Slavery had been determined morally wrong.

INteresting to hear that today a Georgia Congressman said if this health care plan is passed it will be as worthless as confederate currency in 1867 after the war. He said that "Yankee agression was what caused the first civil war" now this great Government takeover of our health care system has been compared to the Civil War. I am sorry congressman, but not everyone in Georgia thinks this bill is a bad idea. It was a bit amusing though to hear just how some of these southern right wingers are so bold about using rhetoric that implies a glorification of the Confederacy. It sort of started when Trent Lott said he voted for Strom Thurmond in 1948.

I would like to tell these guys, if you are going to be racist, can't you at least sugar coat your opinions better? It sort of makes me question it myself; are we still fighting the civil war today?

Farleft,

I'm shocked you believe this poll, the one non-internet poll that shows support for health care by a partisan pollster. SHOCKED I TELL YOU!!

Isn't Grayson that nut from Florida? Yeah, he wold be perfect to lead the Democratic party since the party itself is beyond crazy.

Where is OL? Did you see the CBO scored the bill excluding just one of the three main tricks the Dems used? They eliminated just the doc fix and it sent the score into the red. Do you feel bad that the Dems were successful in tricking you into believing that it would really reduce the deficit?

"I believe Kaiser on this poll..."

Of course you do because it's the only poll that supports your view. Never mind that the electorate is anything but +15 Ds over Rs.

This poll is worthless.

This poll may be a bit exxagerated, but certainly Rasmussen is exaggerated the other way. I think the polls differ because it is also how the poll is worded. If they are asked do you think Obamacare is a good idea? I think the response would be very negative, but if the question is asked, do you want a health plan that will regulate insurance companies to lower their premiums, no denials of pre-existing conditions and a chance to insure 30 million more Americans in the next 10 years.

I think the response would be more supportive, but the reason health care reform still is having a difficult time passing is because different leaders have different ideas. Many people don't like the plan because it isn't going to move fast enough! It was the public option that most people liked, and the Conservadems like Lieberman and ben nelson killed. Nevertheless, I am not paying attention to polls because, much great legislation like intigrating schools and ending Slavery and Child Labor had opposition during the time. I am sure if they had mass media in those days, many poorer people would have opposed those things too, especially integrating schools. A great leader however, has to make a stand and do things that aren't always popular.

This poll was worded differently because it didn't mention president Obama or "the government regulating health care". It just talks about plans being discussed in congress. Since congress is so unpopular, that is even more reason why these numbers are better than expected.
