Paleo:

Interesting that there's no "enthusiasm gap" in this poll.

This is not the worst news for Democrats considering Independents make up 40 percent of the poll.

RV generic giving the GOP a one point lead? Ouch.

If you look at the poll, of the 40% indies, 18% each leans to the GOP and the Dems.

Looking at all the data in the polling. It looks like those saying things are getting better have stopped increasing and are actually rolling over. Not good if that keeps up through the fall.

The most important issue for the Fall election will be the economy. This poll is not good news for Dems.

FLAP you are hilarious. Cherry picking polls that you like to look at...what a troll!

At least your savior is above water here!

Why would they use the phrase, "or are you inclined to look around for someone else to vote for?" Can't they be more specific by party. Seems like ABC could have worded the question more specifically.

Interesting that 68% say that the economy is not getting worse. That's not a bad number.

Yes, they are right for this point in time. But the economy is teetering. It could swing either way any day now in the near term.

@Hooked on Polls

If you look deeper into the economic numbers on manufacturing and business orders, plus the new hiring on Wall Street, I think you'll find that the talk about the economy getting worse is overblown. The recovery won't be great, but it will gain steam next year.

Congress does need to inject more stimulus money into the economy to prop up local hiring on essential services like education and law enforcement. They're being very short-sighted about deficit concerns. Put people back to work first.

I believe Major Corporations are holding back on hiring 1000s of people until the new Congress takes power in 2013.Wal-Mart was suppose to hire over 20.000 new employees by the end of the year, but pulled back until after the Mid-terms,it obvious Wal-Mart is for the Republicans, back in 2008 Wal-Mart was telling its employees to vote for Republicans.Wal-Mart should have been fined for that, but the Bush administration set back in did nothing about it.

Probably so melvin. That has to be the most accurate comment (and most non-nutty one) you have ever written.

Why would corporations, large and small, hire when they have a congress and president that is so firmly anti-business. We have huge regulatory rules being written that no one knows what the ramifications will be. We have the largest tax increase in history looming in 6 months. And we have an economy that is teetering on the edge. Why would companies hire in that sort of political economic environment?

Nice poll. BObama's worst numbers yet from this bluest of all blue pollsters, and RV generic is R+1.

Of all the nice polls this morning, this one's gotta be the best.
