44% ties a lowest-point for a CBS poll during Obama's presidency.

I only pay attention to Gallup on Obama's approval. They got it right the first time, and since Obama isn't on the ballot in 2010, I am not worried.

I predict, if these tea party lunatics do unfortunately get elected to the senate and governor, the small percentage of independent voters who thought the grass was greener, will be thankful to have Obama, and just like Clinton in 1996, people woke up and saw that Obstructionism and taking our country to the dark ages which was the mission of the Contract with America, just doesn't work and will never work.

We are such a nation of pessimists. This poll is worse than Rasmussen. CBS finds people who are looking for trouble. I don't think the economy is great but it has picked up from what it was before. I wish people would stop blaming politicians and focus on their own lives.

I don't think our economy is ever going to be what it was in the .com era of the late 90's. Outsourcing jobs, globalization and good jobs going overseas and being downsized will not go away anytime soon. It is like this country expects Obama to have a magic wand and make things change instantly. No leader in any country has that ability.

Poll Troll:

Well Rasmussen is obviously trying to set the narrative. These republican pollsters have no shame OVER POLLING republicans on purpose. Wait this is CBS? Uhh ohh...

This looks to be all bad news for our insignificant little president and thus good news for the future of our glorious nation.

I agree that there exists a problem with the GOP in the form of the Tea Party and their followers thinking that they can have candidates in our party. They should vote with the GOP establishment and not be tempted to deviate from it.

I really hope that Sharron Angle loses and Reid keeps his majority leader position. He will continue to be a drag on democrats nationwide, while if Angle wins she will be a disaster for our party for the next 6 yrs till she is defeated by the next democrat pretending to be a blue dog.
Not too worried about Paul though because KY is so conservative anyway that he may survive and perhaps learn to become a proper politician.

Glad to see the pro Arizona numbers.

What is this, Super Tuesday of polling?

It just won't end.

Interesting how both ABC/Wapo and CBS release the same crap on the same day. After outlying for BOBO for 18 months by a good 8-10 points from reputable posters, the "house effect" goes to zero. For both? Why now? Is MSM abandoning BOBO? Something he said?

CBS had BOBO at 51-39 as recently as May. The last time they had HCR at 43-47. If he loses his core constituency - MSM, he's toast. What text, actually covering actual news? Wacky.

Yes Staty Tues. July 13th 2010 is the day the pro-Obama news networks have no choice but to concede that Obama is a liability.

Tea Party Lunatics? If a person from another world looked at our situation and saw people who were fighting for a balanced budget and for a sound money economy VS people who were fighting for this unrestrained deficit spending and growth of government they would call the latter the lunatics. This world at the moment has it backwards. The only true lunacy is to think we can keep up our consumption, deficit spending, borrowing and printing press based economy forever. You know or for even for more than 5 or 10 more years.

If we keep up our current practices for years to come without fundamentally changing our economy, ask Zimbabwe how they look 1 million dollar bills.

liberals thoroughly get spanked all around in this poll. Look at the numbers on the AZ law that libs have been trying desperatley to play the race card with.....that strategy has fallen on its face and fallen hard!

HCR approval is in the tank down in the 30's.

Barry at a low with this pollster of 44.

Going on two years of Barry's management and people still think the economy is miserable. Barry is at a trillion dollar deficit already this fiscal year and we sitll have a few months to go. in less than two years Barry has already added 2.4 trillion to the national debt.

Getting very very ugly for Dems everywhere. With the race baiting failing with the AZ law, even there golden fall back position of crying racist is failing.

farleft - seriously, dude, get a life. You hate any poll that gives you numbers you hate. and you love any poll that gives you numbers you love. you are the typical democrat, void of any sense of reality and totally self absorbed. in November you will find out that the world does not revolve around you.

ugly ugly ugly.

although the approval rating is low at 44%, I'm more intrigued to see that 12% are undecided and 44% disapproval. That disapproval rating is 4% lower than the average. Interesting results.

74% either support the AZ law or say it doesn't go far enough! That is an overwhelming majority and shows that Obama is on the wrong side of American AGAIN.

Obama inherited 3 headaches,26 other Presidents inherited 1 headache, and 17 Presidents inherited 0 headaches.I define a headache as (1) If the unemployment rate is over 7% (2) If a war is going on. If you go check your history no other President has inherited more then 1 headache,so shame on you in the media for judging Obama when he inherited 3 major headaches, and giving him only 18 months to solve them.Bush 2 inherited 0 headaches, and Bush 1 inherited 0 headaches.Reagan only inherited 1 headache, even FDR only inherited 1 headache. The only President that comes close to Obama is Ford who inherited 1 headache, but the unemployment rate was 6.2% when Ford took office so he did come close to 2,but Obama inherited a mess,i wish the media would point this out.

I am with you on ignoring CBS. Their news stories should all end with "I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message."

Melvin

Your "headaches" are over simplifying. Unemployment was 7.5% when the great Ronald Reagan took office, but inflation was at 11.83% and foreign policy was in tatters. No one respected us after the Iran hostage situation.

How about Abe Lincoln? Does the country about to fall apart count as a "headache."

When does it stop being Bush's fault? BO has had 18 months. How long does he need? Is Dubya to blame for the rise in unemployment in the last 18 months?

Oh yeah, this is about polls. This poll is all adults and was done by one of the most liberal media outfits in existence. Spin it any way you want. The WH cannot be happy with these results.

Yes.

And when does it stop being Carter's fault? I remember Reagan and company spent most of their first term blaming Carter for everything. Republicans are still dredging his name up. And Democrats ran against Hoover for decades.
