Not too much to compare it to, given the last survey by newsweek was condcuted in Feb. Could be worse.

RV polls show an even race, LV polls show a Rep adavantage.

Always good to know that about a quarter of the country is crazy, though. Birthers, Truthers, Trigsters, always about the same amount of people.

Dems are overpolled? That looks awfully close to their registration advantage to me...

The question about his religion is ridiculous. If he says he is a Christian I'm inclined to believe him, but whatever, I guess its a way to try to make news on a slow news day. If I were polled on this for most politicians I'd probably just say I don't know for sure. It's between him and God.

Dems are probably slightly overpolled. Apparently 24% of people think Obama is so horrible they are willing to call him the worst thing in their minds: a Muslim. They should also poll on other things. Im sure 24% also think he's a Black Socialist, Gay, Muslim, Jew who doesn't like Sinatra. Shame on you 24% of Americans. Glad my generation isn't batshit crazy. Were just apathetic and apt for developing carpal tunnel syndrome.

So long as they're going to ask the stupid religion question, why not throw "Atheist" in there as an option? Not for me to judge of course, but I'd say that's far more likely than "Muslim."

The Party ID breakdown reported above was for the entire sample (Adults). A Dem + 8 Party ID (35/27/29) advantage among adults is not hard to believe. In fact, it could be higher.

The Party ID of Registered Voters in this poll was Dem + 4 (36/32/27).

I actually completely agree with you. Ive always thought he was Atheist, Radical Islam and the most liberal president never seemed to go well together.

Its doubtful that 24% think he's muslim. Its just people responding to their dislike of the president. You could ask if people thought he killed Christ and you'd get 20% or so saying yes. Same if you asked if GWB had.

Sometimes polls ask that. I remember one in early 2009 asked something to the effect of "Do you think George W. Bush is the antichrist?" and the same for Obama. In both cases the people saying "yes" were 12-15%, indicating that about 25-30% of Americans qualify as extremist on whatever side.

Although sometimes I wonder if some people answer as a joke stupid questions like that.

Obama's writings offer enough evidence that he's a Christian, although a liberal one with universalist leanings. For many conservative Christians, if you don't believe people of other religions are going to hell, you're not much better than those other religions themselves. That might account for some of those saying yes on the muslim question: He may not be a muslim, but he has too much sympathy for them, putting him basically on their side.

I grew up Episcopal, which for some in my gf's hometown southern baptist church, doesn't qualify as Christian. They accept gays and "don't believe in sin" is what some said.
