The placement of that item ("The investigation into the shootings...") suggests that the 2% figure is a typo. The true number is probably between 20% and 27%.

Is this a statement about our reactions to mass shootings? I would be interested in news interest polling data at a similar point after Virgina Tech and Columbine.
