That's the top story!!!

Poor stillow/boomshak/kiptin/boskop/raleigh. How sad the repub trolls must feel right now.

First, Palin only decided to "donate" the clothes after the story broke that she spent $150K on clothes in two months. Second - who cares? The woman is a know nothing dimwit and every American with a brain should be deathly afraid that she has a chance (however remote) of being president.

If you thought George was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet.

What should worry people is that there still is a large segment of brain-washed born-agains voting just based on the fact that Palin is a religious nut just like them. These people completely ignore the fact that she knows NOTHING and has been found to be ethically corrupt. Kinda like the 25% that still support Bush, or think he is doing a great job.

It should scare the living daylights out of every thinking citizen that a large portion of the populace is that ignorant.

The last 8 years will hopefully fade like a bad dream. It was an embarrassing time for the US, and pretty much all due to the repubs and Bush.

The repubs (and some posters here) don't quite understand that their time is OVER. Guess what happens in 4 years? Yup, Obama will be re-elected in a landslide. Why? the old racists/repubs will die off - replaced by the kids who are 14-17 years old right now. Who do you think these kids will support?

Also, an Obama win will restore the pure notion of America that people around the world want to believe in again. Why do you think EVERY poll in EVERY foreign country has Obama winning by huge margins? Some are as high as 90-10!

Now, when these new immigrants come to America, who do you think they will vote for?? We already know that Obama wins the Latino vote by large margins - that population will only increase over time.

There's nothing more real than a woman of the people, just an ordinary hockey mom, spending $150,000 on clothes and $20,000 on hair and makeup.

That's as "real news" as it gets, my friend.

zoot:

scottkj, first, stop and think about the BS that's been thrown at Obama over the last 6 months before you start crying in your beer about 'unfair' attacks on the Divine Sarah.

Equally to the point, what the MSM and many voters hate is hypocritical sanctimony. and you better believe that they'll jump your bones if you get caught in it, which is what Uncle John and his campaign stumbled right into. Here we have the hockey mom who represents Joe Six-Pack, and instead of sending her out in her normal street duds, or maybe a discreet upgrade at Talbots, they shoot the moon on equipping her with a high fashion outfit and then top it by spending a fortune on her cosmetologist, or whatever she is. This, at a time they're starved for funds, cutting back on advertising in critical states and not spending a sou on down-ticket candidates.

You tell me how that squares with what they're flogging out on the trail. You bet your ass its pertinent. What's more its good for a lot of laughs, and the worst thing for any candidate is to become the butt of a joke. Better to be hated and feared.

Hey, talking about the priorities of the presidential campaigns is legitimate news. It's clear where the McCain campaign's priorities lie. I can tell you the Obama campaign is not splurging obscene gobs of their supporters' donations on make-up and clothes. A lot of Republican donors are PISSED about this. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them stayed home on Election Day.

The elephant is dying, folks. Change is coming. America is finally going to have a chance to redeem its image in the world with new intelligent leadership! It's finally happening!

when a campaign is devoid of message, the silly stuff rises to the top. While the makeup is silly, there are some valid points. First, the makeup artist was paid more than McCain's foreign policy advisor in the same period. Talk about style over substance. Second, like the clothes, it sinks the ship with hypocrisy.

@scottkj,

There are two main reasons why Palin's wardrobe is news and others aren't: 1) Michelle Obama buys her own cloths. She doesn't bill the DNC, and especially not to the tune of $150,000. And 2) there's the contradiction between someone claiming to be a main street, everyday, hockey mom, on the one hand, and putting down $150,000 in a couple of months on new cloths! Neither hockey moms nor pit bulls can afford to do that; and that's real, straight talk!

____________________

JCK:

You claim you're a regular-old "Hockey Mom" and then spend $150k on clothing. Hypocrisy is ALWAYS news.

You may not like it, but that's the reality.

____________________

OneAngryDwarf:

@scottkj

The cost of the Obama's wardrobe would be much more of an issue if they ran around claiming that they were just like you and me. The fact of the matter is Sarah has claimed on multiple occasions that she is just like you and me, she's "Joe Six-Pack."

Let me tell you I know exactly ZERO "Joe Six-Packs" that can afford to spend my yearly salary ($150K) on closes for the family. Hence the story.

If she wanted to claim that she was a master carpenter and then we found out that she didn't own a hammer, then we'd have a different news cycle. Sarah has created her own problems, no use blaming anyone else for them.

Scottkj
From World Net Daily (that well-known commie rag - not) - Bill Press.
"Palin's clothing binge seems even more extravagant when compared to the frugality of the Obamas. Appearing as a guest on "The View," Michelle Obama laughed when Whoopi Goldberg and co-hosts went wild over her dress. It was, revealed Obama, nothing but a $148 Donna Ricco dress, bought off the rack at a local department store. She told the audience: "You put a little pin on it and you've got something going on."

Barack Obama himself admits having little interest in clothes. In a June interview on "Access Hollywood," his wife and daughters made fun of him for wearing the same pants and belt for 10 years. He reportedly wore the same shoes every day until his campaign staff pitched in and bought him a new pair.

Before his acceptance speech in Denver, Obama agreed to buy a new suit. He paid $1,500 for a custom-made suit by Hart Schaffner Marx, an American label based in Des Plaines, Ill. Since then, he's bought a couple more. In fact, he could buy 50 suits for what Sarah Palin spent at Neiman-Marcus alone.

So let's get this straight. One candidate has nine houses, 13 cars and wears $520 loafers. And the other wears the same pants, same belt and same shoes for 10 years.

Tell me again: Which one's the elitist?"

So Scottkj - can it will ya?

You seem to be rather ignorant of the stories that have been done about how frugal the obama's are. That is why the "elitist" charges don't stick. The family interview showed the kids making fun of their dad because he always wore the same belt and shoes. The obama's have one car and one house. Yup, real elitist.

It is rather ironic that mccrap/paliar would even attempt those charges considering......

And now it has been shown how hypocritical these two clowns have been. Ms.$150K and Mr.7..no..8...no 9....oh who knows how many houses should really be quite embarrassed. But they have no shame, and so the media is calling them on it.

By the way, being a big donor, I am happy he is spending money on the victory gathering at Grant Park, since I will be there!!

It's actually illegal to use campaign funds to enhance your personal wardrobe by $150,000. And when Palin is going around calling herself the "Joe Sixpack Candidate", I think the fact that she spent more on clothes (none of them made-in-America) in one month than most people spend on clothes in a LIFETIME,is in fact, relevant.

I was just listening to Rachel Maddow on the radio. Man this woman is pessimistic. What gives? She seems rather convinced that Obama can't win. She looks at it like this.. All McCain has to do is hold on to the Bush states and he wins. While true, it's not probable and she doesn't seem to get that. She then goes on to say even if Obama flips IA, NM he won't win. Still true, but again that's not the probable scenario. Then she gives that ok Obama might MIGHT win CO and would win the election but then there's the good chance that McCain will flip PA because he's concerting all of his efforts there. And therefore if he wins PA he wins the election, even without IA, NM, CO.

Man this woman is a downer. Why'd I even listen to that garbage!?LOL

And not only is it meaningful in and of itself, it's in stark contrast to the Obamas. They wouldn't have let any of that happen, something we all know without having to ask.

HATE TOO ANNOY YOU MOOBATS WITH THE TRUTH, BUT HERE IT IS:

Bad news for Obama in Colorado early voting

The state of Colorado has released its first set of early voting figures: and it’s bad news for Obama.

Despite a massive push by Obama for early voting, including repetitious pleas during the Democrats’ Convention for Coloradoans to early vote, Democrats and Republicans are tied in terms of early voting so far.

105,277 - Democrats = 49.92%
105,615 - Republicans = 50.08%
338 = Difference between the two = 0.16%

This means that even with a nonstop push by the Obama campaign for his followers to vote early, Republicans are still ahead in Colorado, if only slightly.

Democrats vote early in higher numbers than Republicans in almost every state. And that’s not including the big persuasive push by Obama. Logic dictates with all the attention Obama’s put on early voting, that Democrats should be clobbering Republicans right now…if they vote early in higher numbers to begin with, and then Obama’s made a big push for early voting on top of that.

That’s not happening.

Republicans have a slight lead in early voting right now.

Where is all the enthusiasm for Obama the media keeps braying about?

And remember: not all of those Democrats are voting Obama. We know 30 Democrats right here in Chicago who voted early — and voted Republican for the first time in our lives. We bet there’s a higher percentage of Democrats voting Republican in Colorado this year than any year in the past.

And that’s something we won’t know the full extent of until Election Day.

I see. According to that graph, if we want to flatten out the debt growth, we need to attack Korea again. The only question is, which one? North or South? North has its advantages: quick and easy war, surgical strikes, etc., but minuses too: more mouths to feed, healthcare for the occupied Koreans, etc..

Attacking South Korea might seem more tempting at first (higher GNP, larger spoils of war), but the downside is a)many of the spoils of war will be destroyed and 2)they seem a lot feistier than the North Koreans.

Whom would you attack?

At first I didn't think BO could equal that, but he might have a shot. The goal, I believe, would be the 470 EVs FDR received that year. Clinton's wins pale in comparison. Georgia seems to be a possible addtion to BO's EV count. Who knows as the stock market spirals to the cellar? Maybe Arkansas, Arizona, Montana, Louisiana, or even my own dumb**** State of Texas? I think I am beginning to see 400 EV's and maybe even more.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/new_hampshire/election_2008_new_hampshire_presidential_election

The presidential race in New Hampshire has grown closer, with Barack Obama now leading John McCain 50% to 46%, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state.

At the beginning of the month, the Democrat held a ten point lead over his opponent, which shifted New Hampshire from “toss-up” to “leans Democratic” in the Rasmussen Balance of Power Calculator. In the eight polls prior to October, Obama has held the lead in five, McCain in three.

COMMENT:
I told you people. I have a friend who is friends with someone inside the Obama Campaign. During the middle of this week, they got new internal polling numbers showing McCain surging in all batteground states. They are FREAKING OUT over this.

I did NOT make this up.

Now we see McCain gaining 5 and taking the lead in NC and now gaining 6 and being only 4 down in NH.

The Obama Team has the internals and they know this is happening. That's why the MSM is in overdrive trying to convince us the race is over.

All they will do though is depress their own turnout.

Partly. Because of the way his campaign jumped all over that story, like a drowning man clutching at straws. Because of his phone calls and Sarah's phone calls to her before they checked out the truthiness (c) Colbert of the story. The other part is due to the drudge lunatics like you who first drugded it out and then dragged it out and then paraded it all over the god's green Internet.

Observer:

Mixed picture this week. With the vast mass of polls coming through it can be difficult to see the wood for the trees.

Good for Obama: Polling day approaches and he is running down the clock.

• Continuing comfortable national lead
• Continuing lead in the battleground states
• Drift upwards in average of tracking polls from about 5% to about 7% nationally

Good for McCain: Instead of all bad news there is now some good news mixed in with the bad, although most polling news is still good news for Obama.

Two national polls gave a lead of only 1% for Obama this week. I was AP and the other the Wednesday result from IBD/TIPP.

State polling now shows that most red states are within range:

Current RCP Averages

Indiana...........O +0.5
N. Carolina....O +1 (best this week M +2)
Florida...........O +2.2 (best M +2)
Missouri.........O +2.7 (best M +1)
Nevada...........O +3.3
Colorado........O +5.4 (best two polls at O +4)
Ohio...............O +6.6 (three recent polls show McCain ahead, best M +3)
Virginia.........O +7.0 (best two polls at O +1 and O +2)

I think all of these states are winnable by McCain without the need for anything dramatic. He just needs to move things nationally a little and/or take the majority of undecided votes. If he does win all the states on this list he will be President (I am assuming no upsets in places like Montana and Georgia).

New Hampshire...O + 8.2 (best O +4)

I don't think NH is out of reach either

Pennsylvania......O +11 (best O +7)

If McCain is to win PA something has to shift. Either that or a lot of pollsters will have egg on their faces.

As I see it Obama is still the strong favourite but he has definitely not yet wrapped this up. A minority of pollsters are now putting McCain in range nationally and in just about all of the red battlegrounds. They are outnumbered by less favourable polls but some good news is a step forward from where we were a week or two ago.

It all depends on whether McCain can take most of the undecided votes. I think he can.

The problem with that McCain did when the woman called Obama "an arab" is that after saying "no ma'm" a few times he commented on how Barack was actually a "decent, family man citizen."

That was not the right answer. John was thus asserting that Arab-Americans are not "decent" people, in his own words. The correct answer would have been that Obama "is an American whose father was born and raised in Kenya."

Hey BOOM! ********BREAKING NEWS*********
The McCain campaign is ****ED!

McCain Communications Director Gave Reporters Incendiary Version Of "Carved B" Story Before Facts Were Known
By Greg Sargent - October 24, 2008, 5:12PM

John McCain's Pennsylvania communications director told reporters in the state an incendiary version of the hoax story about the attack on a McCain volunteer well before the facts of the case were known or established -- and even told reporters outright that the "B" carved into the victim's cheek stood for "Barack," according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions.

John Verrilli, the news director for KDKA in Pittsburgh, told TPM Election Central that McCain's Pennsylvania campaign communications director gave one of his reporters a detailed version of the attack that included a claim that the alleged attacker said, "You're with the McCain campaign? I'm going to teach you a lesson."

Verrilli also told TPM that the McCain spokesperson had claimed that the "B" stood for Barack. According to Verrilli, the spokesperson also told KDKA that Sarah Palin had called the victim of the alleged attack, who has since admitted the story was a hoax.

The KDKA reporter had called McCain's campaign office for details after seeing the story -- sans details -- teased on Drudge.

The McCain spokesperson's claims -- which came in the midst of extraordinary and heated conversations late yesterday between the McCain campaign, local TV stations, and the Obama camp, as the early version of the story rocketed around the political world -- is significant because it reveals a McCain official pushing a version of the story that was far more explosive than the available or confirmed facts permitted at the time.

The claims to KDKA from the McCain campaign were included in an early story that ran late yesterday on KDKA's Web site. The paragraphs containing these assertions were quickly removed from the story after the Obama campaign privately complained that KDKA was letting the McCain campaign spin a racially-charged version of the story before the facts had been established, according to two sources familiar with the discussions.

A source familiar with what happened yesterday confirmed that the unnamed spokesperson was communications director Peter Feldman. Feldman was also quoted yesterday making virtually identical assertions on the Web site of another local TV station, WPXI. But those quotes, which we also preserved here, are also no longer available on WPXI's site, for reasons that are unclear.

This is problematic because the McCain campaign doesn't want to have been perceived as pushing an incendiary story that not only turned out to be a hoax but which police officials said today risked blowing up into a "national incident" and has local police preparing to file charges against the hoaxster.

There's no evidence that anyone from McCain national headquarters put out a version of events like this.

After the story appeared on KDKA's site and this and other pieces in the local press started flying around the political world, an Obama spokesperson in the state angrily insisted to KDKA that it was irresponsible for the station to air the McCain spokesperson's incendiary version of events before the facts were fully known, according to two sources familiar with the discussions.

After that, KDKA went back to McCain's Pennsylvania spokesperson, Feldman, and asked if he stood by the story as he'd earlier told it, but he started backing off the story, a source familiar with the talks says. That prompted KDKA to remove the grafs.

Feldman couldn't immediately be reached, and a McCain HQ spokesperson declined to comment.

ENOUGH ALREADY WHINING ABOUT THE MSM

1) media is free enterprise they don't owe you or I a thing they can report anything they want. As a conswervative you will appreciate that their number one goal is to make as much money as they could. You the consumer have a choice in what u watch, read, listen to. If you think CNN is liberal you can watch Sean Hannity on Fox or listen to Rush Limbaugh or read the NY Post.
2) If conservatives want fair media, open up your TV, Radio, newspapers. ah you already have!! well this a free country free speech. The only way CNN comes off the air is when people stop watching them.
3) Never seen a group of adults who consider themselves tough cry like little girls. Enough with the self pity.
4)look at what you call the MSM media in 2004. The polls were dead on. RCP nailed 49 out 50 states and everybdy, except for zogby had the popoular vote within the MOE.
5) Fox has thier polls and you are losing there too.
6) what a convinient crutch when things go bad "it was the media". Blame the polls, the loss in the election anything bad on the media

Nope. Please explain.

How mant slanderous lies did the Left and the MSM spread about Sarah Palin when she was first selected that turned out to be utterly false and without merit?

This is completely IRRELEVANT to both McCain and Palin jumping on the story and making the girl their poster child. Let me give you a hint, if you find an instance of both Obama and Biden jumping on a story that is embarrassing for McCain/Palin, yet completely out of Palin/McCain control, let me know.
A good example would be if, say, some right wingnut in CA decided to perpetrate REAL VOTER FRAUD and Obama/Biden jumped all over the poor victims. Did that happen?

"Trig isn't Sarah's baby!" ring a bell?

Sorry, did Obama call the baby? Or Biden call Bristol or Willow or whatever accessory name the /alleged/ mother was named? Not that I recall.
In fact, TO THIS DAY, Palin refuses to release her medical records. There are four possible reasons for that:
1)she is NOT the real mother of Trig
2)there is an A-BOMB in her background (abortion)
3)evidence of more serious drug/alcohol [ab]use in her medical past
4)she is just a shy and innocent girl who happened to get preggers during the premarital courtship stage with Todd.

Where are the medical records, boom? Or should I say kerrchdavis? LOL.

"The attack story seemed plausible at first so they went with it.

It did NOT seem plausible at first. It had stench of bs all over it. And McCampaign, erratic and knee-jerk as it is, did not bother to run a standard background check (Ifell, Palin vetting, etc. -see the pattern) and ran with the story like...well, I gave you a good simile in the original response.

"You think Team Obama would hav sat calmly and waited for a full vetting of the story if the same things had happened to one of their supporters?"

Yes. Yes, in fact I believe that is EXACTLY what the Obama Team would do. Remain calm and proceed thoughtfully. That is what SETS THEM APART from McPANIC.

I know this is a harsh newsflash. Deal with it.

OWN!

"Turns out this girl has a history of mental illness and decided to do this completely on her own on a whim."

Turns out McCain has a similar history of mental anguish. There are kin and have an acute sense of kinship.

The thing that scares me the most about Obama is that people like you are his supporters. I need no more evidence that Obaam represents the most radical left.

Hey by the way how many Evangelicals did the IBD poll use today? Was it below 40% or something to give Obama the 4 point lead? I was laughing so hard yesterday at the 44% evan, 1 % black sampling. LOL AND WITH ALL THAT... OBAMA STILL ****ING WINS!

People like you also scare me about any republican, extreme right.
Personally I would LOVE Obama to be a president of far left, but knowing him (and you can see the way he has campaigned) he will move further and further to middle. He is a surviver.
The only thing I love is that supreme court hopefully will remain intact or become more liberal.
"The thing that scares me"

Oh, by all means, be scared. Right numnuts have to be scared.

What the **** has the GOP done for America in 8 years? We had a balanced budget when Clinton left, we had 8 years of relative peace. Now you put up this CUNT, Palin who doesn't even know what the ****ing vice president does on a daily basis? She thinks he's the leader of the Senate? Her husband is included in a party that HATES THE US and wants to leave the Union yet since they are WHITE the so called liberal media has HARDLY TOUCHED THE STORY.

Dude, get a ****ing life.

newsweek doesn't get ashamed, but they should for polling what, 25 percent more liberals than conservatives? if obama in fact wins by these margins he would be the first non-incumbent to accomplish that since FDR. i don't think the country is that in sync but we shall see in just 11 days.

That's cultish...why don't you lay your hands on Sister Sarah...or get her African witch-killer medicine man back here? Maybe he can rustle up some bad ju-ju!

You Lied in one of your post above.

You said that CO gave out its voting between parties so far. First, You didnt show independents. Also CO has not released anything, I just was watching the news, this is from the Gov of CO, "we will not release any polling between parties untill 8:00PM, Nov 4th. So The numbers you have are made up.

____________________

Obama008:

Also Boomshak when a pollster, polls:

36% Dem
25% Rep

That is the national avg between the two parties that’s not over sampling.

You said that in another post too.

This is the real no spin zone.

@northeastern republican

Well, forget about the foibles in a particular poll. The reason for all the negative treatment of the GOP campaign is because of its incompetence, its mean spiritedness, and because the GOP or its shock troops (like the mentally disturbed woman who faked a robbery and vicious assault and blamed it on an African American) are engaging in the dirtiest campaign I've seen in my lifetime at the national level. A Martian journalist with no stake in the election, being totally objective would say that the GOP campaign is cosmically absurd and incompetent and that its supporters are delusional and literally spinning into some kind of collective rage about imagined conspiracies and over-the-top concerns that we are elected the French Directorate that ordered the beheadings of the aristocracy. Any reasonable, objective person would wonder what are those GOP supporters thinking. I feel bad for my GOP friends and neighbors who are just as public spirited and just as concerned as I am about our country. They've been let down by out-of-control ambition of McCain who hired the very same people who slimed him in 2000. What kind of a person does that? Those were the people who spread rumors about his wife and adopted child? And then to make them his most senior campaign people and unleash them on his opponent? That's honor? That's country first? That's McCain first, last, and, hopefully, never more.
